No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it reasonable to be concerned about security issues when switching to Linux?
0·1 day agoYes it is. You need Malware protection and you need to harden your computer. Do some research on that.
Homeschooling is a great way to completely fuck up your kids. My wife and I both have Masters degree so we consider ourselves well educated, but we have always recognized that we do not have the depth and width of knowledge that our kid needed to exposed to. Also we always recognized that teaching requires dedication and skill sets we do not have.
I am not even going to comment on the lack of socialization the kid will miss out on.
The only reasons any parent home schools a kid is because the parents are wack jobs or terrified.
There are two types of people in the world. People who pee in the shower and those that lie about not peeing in the shower.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those of you with bathrooms attached to your bedroom, do you normally keep the door open or closed while you sleep and what's your reasoning?
0·2 days agoI keep it closed because I like my bedroom to be as dark as possible when I sleep.
I position night lights at key locations through out my house so one can move around at night and not have to turn on lights, which can suck when you are in the wakening process. Also it makes it easier for guests to move around the house.
So, i have a night light in each of my bathrooms, one in a corner of my kitchen etc.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Americans: How the hell do you meet new people or get into relationships after college?
0·2 days agoI can only answer this based on what I did.
After college I joined the Army. it is easier to meet people in the Army than it is in college. The army was wild. The days last forever but the weeks go by quick. In the army it is not uncommon to meet someone and by the end of the day they are the best friend you ever had and two weeks later you don’t see them again.
After the Army I settled in a suburban area started working a civilian job and raised my family. I met my best friend as he lived two doors down from us and his two kids were one year younger and one year older than my kid, so we were the two dads watching over the kids in the neighborhood.
From there we started lifting weights together, taking our families to football games and having cookouts together. We also had other families in the neighborhood come and go.
I also made friends through work. I worked in IT so it was a fun job and the people I worked with were great.
The most important thing is proximity.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
0·2 days agoNo it wasn’t. Season 4 spent way too much time on the Many Face God stuff with Aria that was just the same shit each episode.
Season 5 was horrible.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
0·2 days agoYes. I do need to change the recommendations.
GOT S1-S3 is excellent. The show really slows down in S4, but the Red Viper stuff carries it. S5 sucked. Only the Battle of Hard Home is worht it. S6 was better.

341·6 days agoIt is a Thinnet client. They have been around for at least 26 years.

I had high school “relationships” that were kids stuff. The first real relationship I had was in college. We dated over two years and when it ended I was… RELIEVED.
I was just sick of her bullshit and she was pretty much just as sick of my bullshit.
The relationships ended when our lease ended and I was so happy to put her in my rear view.
