16·24 days agoMy local Township police department was closed down after the vote to renew the millage (taxes to fund it) failed over a decade ago. Now we just have the local County police coming through instead.

Hey same here! I found out about a year after it happened.
Edit looks like they banned me from DND next as well.

I’m pretty sure said mod just went through every upvote and banned a ton of people regardless of whether they knew it was a spambot.

Sometimes you get banned for being nice, or even just for being in the wrong instance.
This comic is actually a really good way to explain Vertical Integration and how it creates conflict of interests.

0·1 month agoKeep in mind the US is basically getting rid of a bunch of their food and safety regulations right now. Producers and suppliers basically stopped inspecting a bunch of stuff the same day a bunch of regulations were pulled, and now a bunch of our food is already making people sick.

Time to go buy a shit sponge like the ancient romans used.
I’ve heard it tastes very similar to breast milk, which was the source of nourishment and life for almost everyone as a baby. This unknowing association with something so vital for survival is supposedly why it’s such a popular flavor.
I would assume that using kirk as a slang verb would mean to “send someone to church” which is where they would have their funeral.
In the additional image in OP, it’s used in reference to the assassination where he got shot, and the kid is using it to mean someone got sniped in the video game.
Maybe that’s the joke.

15·2 months agoAs someone who has enough interest in etymology to understand the thorn character, it feels weirdly natural to actually read modern English that uses it. Count me as part of the pro-“bring Þ and/or ð back to the English language” group.
That said, it’s not practical to use it at this point because most people would freak out and get upset when they see anything they don’t understand, and most people (at least in the U.S.) can barely read at a level comparable to younger children.

Looking through the info they have on me, it seems entirely made up of information regarding past purchases and shipping locations. It mentioned having 2 people at my address, but said other person has an account linked to mine and with the same shipping address, so it’s all relatively shallow information. I didn’t see any deep dive “HOW DID THEY GET THAT??” stuff that would otherwise be alarming.
Edit: I should add that I don’t own or use any of their Alexa products or any related technology. Those might spy on people a little more thoroughly.
