As far as I understand it is decently true, but not to the extent that they would be incapable of doing what they’re achieving. Either way you’re right, it doesn’t refute your claims in any way - those researchers are still doing work in China for Chinese companies, regardless of where they got their education.

I like the music and the execution, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t bored of the conversation around them.

It especially bothers me when people talk about their use of microtonality as if they’ve revolutionized the concept. There’s plenty of existing, established music systems that use microtones constantly, with millions of people listening daily. In their system, they are just tones that exist in different modes or hierarchies, not microtones, but we tend to dismiss is as foreign and therefore irrelevant to eurocentric music standards.

That’s not to say that everyone is doing this. I just happen to see it more often, personally.

BYD claims a contractor mishandled equipment and ignited insulation material, which sparked the greater incident. Others speculate that a faulty battery was the source of the fire. Nobody is talking about body panels… and a faulty electric motor definitely can start a fire.

Nobody knows for certain yet, so I don’t know why you’re painting such a strong narrative… other than to antagonize BYD with sensationalism.

What does your shelter kit consist of? I still have a decades old hand cranked radio/flashlight that’s been through 4 tornado scares. I should definitely go replace the batteries though.

Greater intentionality in mundane things. Wanted to go somewhere? Mark it on the map. Photos? You only have so much film left. Trying to remember a phone number, address, passcode, note? 9 times out of 10, you’d write it down and carry it with you.

Smartphones are a technological miracle but we lost a lot of intention through the convenience, which has pros and cons.

I don’t love or hate him, but I keep up with what he has to say because he is undeniably the largest online voice representing the younger left-leaning voter base.
