The true luxury is having both of those as options to choose from.

8·3 days agoIn fairness every kind of mass media has been doing that for a century plus. The difference with social media is that it is much more effective.

science@lemmy.world•China picks first researchers for 15-year mega grantsEnglish
0·3 days agoI’m really interested in seeing how this turns out. Multi-year federal grants in the US almost always have to be re-applied for every year, and are almost never guaranteed past 1 year (and are subject to budget cuts). So on the one hand, you could argue that a multi year budget could make projects prone to being too expensive or full of unnecessary stuff, but on the other hand, you have to wonder how much innovation and discovery we’ve lost by having our brightest minds spend so much time reapplying for grants every year.
That’s exactly the kind of person he was IRL. Very mentally disturbed and convinced he had a message from the universe that urgently needed to be shared. Pretty sad.

Awesome, we have all of these already. Just… great.
I wouldn’t mind the gamification of life so much if I didn’t have to also work and be a responsible adult so as to not become homeless and starving. It’s the combination of the two that’s really insidious.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What happened to old info on the web and the ability to search it?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Could "Palm beach Pete" really be you-know-who?
0·5 months agoThis is a frequent topic of debate in my house (don’t ask why). On the one hand, it’s almost certainly not him. But — and hear me out — it would be exactly like these dipshits to parade their poster boy around his old stomping grounds with the thinnest possible disguise as a big fuck you to all the non-pedophiles child sex slave traffickers (and their supporters) out there

So the documentary is exactly like every other thing having to do with AI?
