I agree with you, and want to add that parents need to do better about addressing this issue as well. There are a million opportunities, every day, to demonstrate heathy gender roles and start conversations about role expectations with your child.

Same here. And it used to cripple me during meetings, and basic conversations with coworkers. I’ve worked in sales, construction, and inventory management and the sports convos were inescapable and apparently a huge key to relating to customers and colleagues.

Your are correct, however you are describing empathy here when the post is about how children become emotional regulators for abusive/absentee parents which becomes a lifelong and debilitating psychological issue for them as adults.

Empathy is best nurtured in a reciprocal manner especially during childhood development and it starts between the child and their caregiver(s).
