Looking For Food [music vid link]

TLDR; an AI illustrated story about my favorite pastime.

STORY: inspired by real-life events, one evening, in the middle of dinner, I find myself craving the sour cream and onion and chive chips in the cabinet because they would go excellent with what I was having for dinner. Not the chips. That sour cream, onion and chive flavor.

So there I was in the cabinet looking for food while I was eating my food.

My wife didn’t flinch, so I had to think about this later, and I realized, wherever we are, I’m always looking for food.

I put my dinner in the oven,
Set the timer, shut the door.
Then I wandered to the kitchen
To see if we had something more.

I opened up the refrigerator,
Though I’d checked it twice before.
Then I opened up the pantry,
Just in case it grew some more!

I’m looking for food while I’m waiting for food!
There’s dinner in the oven, but I’m still in the mood!
A cracker, some cheese, or a cookie or two,
I’m eating the food that I found looking for food!

I can walk into a grocery store
With a shopping list in hand.
But halfway down the second aisle,
I’ve got a different plan!

I’ll open up a bag of chips,
Or maybe something sweet.
And by the time I reach the checkout,
There’s nothing left to eat!

The cashier looks at my empty bag,
Then looks at me instead.
I say, “Of course I’m paying for it!
I just ate it all ahead!”

I’m looking for food while I’m shopping for food!
I’m buying my groceries already chewed!
The cart’s getting fuller, the packages light,
I came here for dinner and stayed for a bite!

Now take me to a lovely park,
Where flowers bloom so bright.
Or through a botanical garden,
With its greenery in sight.

If there’s edibles in sight,
They’d better be filled with fright!
‘Cause if it’s ripe and I can reach it,
I’m bound to take a bite!

A berry! A peach! A plum from a tree!
That botanical garden had better watch me!
The squirrels can keep their acorns,
The birds can have their seeds.
I’m only interested in
The stuff a human needs!

“Are we allowed to eat that?”
“Well, I wasn’t planning to ask!”

I’m looking for food while I’m waiting for food!
I’m searching for snacks in the neighborhood!
At home or the market, wherever I roam,
I’m looking for something to eat on the way home!

My wife says, “Dinner’s almost ready!”
I say, “That’s wonderful news!”
While quietly opening the cupboard
To see what else I can use.

She says, “You’ll ruin your appetite!”
I say, “I’ve heard that all my life!
But I’ve never met a snack so big
It could come between me and my wife!”

Then finally the timer rings,
My dinner’s cooked just right.
I take a look, I grab a fork,
And settle in for a bite.

But halfway through my dinner,
A thought comes creeping through…

“I wonder what’s for dessert?
And is there something I can chew?”

I’m looking for food while I’m eating my food!
I haven’t even finished, but I’m still in the mood!
I’m planning my next meal while chewing this one,
And looking for snacks before dinner is done!

I’m looking for food while I’m waiting for food,
I’m looking for food when I’m buying my food,
I’m looking for food when I’m eating my food…
