Long story short; I thought I’d set this up again, seeing as reddit likes to keep trying to kill themselves.

What happened? About a year or so ago, we lost our original Lemmy instance due to a botched software upgrade that nuked the database. We didn’t have any working backups (test your backups, people!).

What’s different?

  • Better, much newer infrastructure that we fully control.
  • Full clustering - if the hypervisor this Lemmy instance is on has a hissy fit, it’ll transition to another hypervisor with minimal downtime.
  • Proper, tested backups.
