Edits: Created new pinned post with Wiki links.
Hey, I can’t figure how to edit the wiki so I’ll post the following information here. The links for anna’s archive are no longer working. Here are the updated ones, they are the ones listed on wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna’s_Archive
If someone can replace the ones on the wiki with these
Hi I have updated, thanks.
Hello fellow pirates a newbie here
Howdy!! The megathread hasn’t been updated since a long time.
If I don’t upload, will my ISP be less likely to file a copyright complaint? No, it is unlawful to download or upload copyrighted content. (based on the laws of your nation). Though, uploading (sharing) copyrighted content is a more severe offence. https://wiki.dbzer0.com/piracy/isp-complaints/
so first, it definitely depends on the law, where i live downloading is perfectly legal, it is just uploading that is illegal.
second, how would they get list of downloading people? they would have to be uploading first and then saving a list of clients downloading from them, which is quite resource heavy activity, just checking who is offering something is far easier.
and as a person working for the isp in the past, i honestly don’t remember deleting any complaints that someone was downloading something, all the complains were about upload.
so i think the answer to this question is definite yes, getting a complaint about download is like million times less likely
Contains pictures generated by AI… ☹️
Still worth it!
It would have been cool to involve the community by doing some kind of art contest. (Not saying I would participate, I just like the idea.)
I actually love this idea. Do you mind if I run with it, or would you prefer to make a post about it yourself?
Go ahead, I don’t mind. I’m glad you like my idea.
Awesome, have made a post. https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/30475184
Is the megathread outdated? It has entries that both don’t work anymore and were already removed in earlier versions.
I use fmhy wiki for that reason.
Be careful who you give access to. Despite the extreme incompetence of Elon, you might be a target of some fucked in the head peon he threw a dollar at.
