I’ve known for a while now that most adverts I see use psychologically manipulative tactics to sell their product. The autism sees all, I know you’re trying to mess with my head lol.

Earlier I thought, ‘Is it even possible to promote a product en masse without manipulating people in some way, like is there a world where advertising exists where, on a large scale, it is restricted in such a way that it can be said to no longer be manipulative at all?’ What are your thoughts lemmy lads, lasses and enbies?

    No, trying to change other peoples’ behavior is the definition of manipulation. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong or a bad thing. You just need to consider the motivations of the person trying to change your behavior and whether the information is credible.
