Jaka Parker is one of the few sources who provide valid video content of what life is like in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.

Videos such as “COMPUTER STORE IN NORTH KOREA” are great resources to dispel common myths such as “there is no anime in North Korea”.

But he is also a transphobe (citation), which leads me to not sharing it amongst leftist groups.

What alternative sources for DPRK photography and life videos exist?

Sally Yin on Twitter shares lots of videos. Mostly short form and images, and usually of Pyongyang in particular (which is of course one of the nicer and more developed areas in the DPRK), but also some of the countryside and smaller cities. No idea about her being a transphobe or not, but I have not seen anything transphobic from her yet.

In an exercise of tolerance, you could also accept that their views on gender and biology have nothing to do with their NK coverage. They make great videos! Enjoy them!

This modern idea of cancelling anyone completely when they don’t agree with you really causes a lot of friction.

It’s not canceling, it is simply not raising it amongst people who are opposed to transphobia.

I do enjoy their videos, as they are quite a good source in that regards.

When u say “transphobia” do you mean being afraid of trans people, wanting to hurt trans people, disagreeing about gender choice, or something more nuanced?

Im not 100% clear on what the term means to ppl now
