Ooo sodium monocarbonate
He takes over 10 minutes to get to the start of making a point, so that’s not great, but there have been people with ideas for terraforming earth before. It’s one of those things people are very frightened of because that’s kind of a thing in sci-fi. It might work, but people are still mostly looking at climate change as something that is in the future. It won’t get funding until it’s too late.
The thing is, we are already terraforming the earth.
We’ve been pumping CO2 and a bunch of thigns into the air for a long time
‘And look where that got us.’
It’s hard to get buy-in from most people when your solution looks like the problem you’re trying to solve. It creates uncertainty. Add in the media’s approach to science, and you get fear. It’s hard enough getting science funding when people aren’t afraid of it. Toss on the modern anti-intellectual movement and now you’ve got a controversy, a system of doubt. And controversy is good for business. Controversy gets clicks, which sells ads, so the controversy will never be allowed to die. You can’t let there be a final answer to an argument that gets you paid for as long as it continues, now can you?
I can’t see this getting approval in our lifetime, but honestly I don’t see any other solution.
Things will need to get DIRE before the world actually responds properly
I’ve been following this channel for a while.
The man does proper science and is a researcher.
What do y’all think about this? It seems like a actual viable way to deal with climate change
Climate Change is not a technological Problem, but a social one.
We lack the ability to take responsiblitiy for our actions at national and international levels.
Once that is solved, we have some ways to deal with the problems we encounter today and tomorrow.
There no good reason to think a technical solution can’t fix a problem created by capitalism
It’s certainly not a problem that can be solved by individual action
It’s a multifaceted problem. The post is more about treating the symptom sure, but those symptoms are getting pretty bad.
It’s both, we seem incapable of stopping C02 in at least the next 100 years.
even if we went to carbon Zero today, the earth will keep warming up for the next ~100 years, because the carbon we already put in the air keeps acting like a blanket, and the ice will keep melting.
We need to at least consider other options, because what we’re trying isn’t working and not working fast enough at all.
Did you actually watch the video?
We are human, and we can science the shit out of anything if we’re motivated.
No
