Won’t catch me arguing.
Considering I remember the news hitting that the anti-terrorism task force knew about the Manchester attack at the Ariana Grande concert in advance and did nothing about it, that tracks.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's going to happen to gas stations as cars electrify?
0·4 days agoMost likely fuel stations will retreat to outside of city borders, and obviously a lot being shut down and even more people being laid off along the way. It’ll happen slowly but there’ll be three or four local ones suddenly disappearing practically overnight, the last few being the ones clinging on for dear life due to having no better options until the inevitable closure.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•W10 EoL and possibly switching to Linux (various tech questions)
0·5 days agoOh shit. No idea how I managed it, but my comment was supposed to be a response to the original post, not your comment. I didn’t bother looking at the context the last time I responded to you so I didn’t notice. Sorry about that.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•W10 EoL and possibly switching to Linux (various tech questions)
0·5 days agoWindows 10 Enterprise LTSC. It’s the long term support version of W10. It’s made for company so it receives minimum updates and is set to receive updates until 2032, if memory serves. With some minor tweaks, it works just like standard Windows 10, allowing you to keep using everything you’re accustomed to without giving in to the telemetry bullshit.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•(serious) What would we be losing in a world where most people didn't own a car? Please read the OP before posting.
0·6 days agoI live in a city. I live 15 miles from where I work and I can drive it in about 20 minutes. If I wanted to take the bus, it’d take 3 hours and just as many changeovers because there’s no direct run. Not even close. I already work long hours so there’s no way in hell I’d spend 6 hours commuting, even if I could. For the record, I couldn’t even if I wanted since my office is nice enough to leave me with only an hour to get home, eat and get to bed before starting all over again. Sadly, it’s one of the failings of public transport even when it does exist.

24·6 days agoIf you’re looking at a group that is requiring their launcher, don’t walk away, run. There are groups doing this that are legit (or as legit as piracy gets) and the only thing you download from them is a txt with a token inside. It’s not bound to your Steam account and yes, it’s specific to games with the dreaded malware baked in. The system these people are using is to simply trick the Denuvo into thinking you’re supposed to have the game.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it rude to go through the car wash with a bunch of snow on your car?
0·14 days agoAs a semi driver, I can confirm that pretty much everything to do with the vehicle is legally the driver’s responsibility, including times when it’s unreasonable. Snow and ice on top of the vehicle is one of them. Yes, I know how this sounds but those trailers we pull don’t come with ladders or anything and we commonly have to park up in the middle of nowhere, so also consider it from the angle of “How the fuck do I get up there to get rid of sheet ice?”

0·1 month agoI’ve grown tired of the unimaginative, backwards response of “I’ve got nothing to hide”
Edit: To the person who downvoted or the one about to, let me ask you this: “You have doors, right? Windows too? With curtains or blinds? Why? Yiu have nothing to hide, right? Why would you care about protecting your home when you don’t care about protecting the device that likely knows more about you than any family member or partner?”

Hmm. I’m sure that illegal invasion was completely unrelated…
