If you can get an employer to sponsor you, Europe is nice. In the Nordics if you stick to a capital city, you should have no problem using english for almost anything, and for everything else, there are translation apps.

A social worker would probably have to learn the local language anywhere they go, it’s a less transferable profession imo.

Yeah, passports here are under 50€ but only five years, last time I got the Australian one it was a PITA and expensive. Lucky the dollar is so crap tho.

Australian dollar is weak. The government likes it like that because it’s cheaper for other countries to buy Australian goods, so more exports, and the government can say they’re doing well. Downside is it gets expensive to leave the country (which encourages travel within Australia and keeps the money on the country, that otherwise would have gone abroad).

I remember in Australia, trying to meet my friends in the city center. I had a bus scheduled every hour, sometimes it didn’t come though, so I could be waiting over an hour for the bus to take me to the nearest train station. The train was every forty minutes, so it would easily take me two hours to get there. Then I had to hope they showed up too.

I later found I could bike and it would take about an hour.

Building to this week. A few months ago, I was given a broken nas. I took it, thinking I’ve at least got 16TB of storage if it won’t work. Fixed it. Saw the software includes docker, and then saw it has just 2GB ram and before I installed anything it would complain about low memory. Got 16GB, and installed it last weekend.

Spent the week installing and setting up Immich, navidrome, and integrating my other server running arrs.

I really think it’s past the point of a nonviolent resistance working.
