inb4 “but Jesus was a man” yes. But he’s dead, and whatever remains is not “real” anymore

The difference is that in Stalin’s purges, the purgees were bodily harmed.
The effect on the state and its functionality is the same: anyone deemed threatening is removed from power, and the replacements are not chosen for their competence.
The very thing that the crusade against DEI was (ostensibly) meant to prevent. Again: every accusation is a confession.

hey no kink shaming.

I don’t see why the victim’s name gets publicized while the asshole gets a freepass in their actions.

Yeah sure. Feel connected to the clone of a person no one feels connected to IRL . How is that supposed to work?

The way bombings of fossil fuel infrastructure are going, Trump seems to be intent on outdoing the Ukrainians re: climate protection
still going to sue the mountain for negligence
falling off a mountain is also very safe until the moment you hit some rock
no-one desires to die.
Maybe do it with “fear of dying” instead?

Reminder that fascism is dangerous for everyone, including fascists.
Unidirectional air flow, whats the big d… oh.
Imagine your blood flow was not unidirectional. Not arteries and veins, just… vessels for both directions. You’d like – have to pump blood down into your extremities one heartbeat, and with the next one draw it back towards the heart. With the added malus that you only get partial replacement of blood, because you cant completely constrict your vessels.
You probably couldnt even leave your bed, let alone stand on two legs that way.

China is a country where people just vanish. You’ve got no protections against the state. There is no free press. I don’t see how the same Chinese state will have any qualms about using their power in the same way in foreign countries too, if they can afford it.
Yes, the US has acted ruthlessly. But at least at the very least those crimes can be - have been! - made public.
Imagine US foreign policy, but add a healthy dose of we’ll-vanish-everyone-who-even-talks-about-it. The prospect scares me.

Then maybe the West shouldn’t have spent 50 years selling the PRC the rope they’re using to hang them with.
Yeah, thats… kinda unfortunate. Everywhere, anything resembling longterm strategic planning went out the window with the fall of the USSR. With the possible exception of France.
what exactly is their rationale here? “lets be a tiny country, that will make us real independent and free and totally not a plaything next to the big ol’ US of A”
(inb4 “Alberta not tiny”: by population, yes. 4M people is tiny)
