Wrote the modern playbook.
Lifting yourself from homelessness and persevering alongside the trauma is a sign of fortitude that many will not understand. You’re amazing.

“Parry this you filthy casual!”

Yeah, these days everything is labeled as addiction, especially if it’s negative in the conservative tones. As long your habit doesn’t impact your daily life… it’s normal, the bar is really that low.
Now if it’s more serious, I’m afraid a more professional intervention will be required. Looking at other causes or clues that lead you to keeping this habit and compulsion.

This is the secret question as it often boils down to “I didn’t think it’d do harm so I just did what you thought you wanted me to do”

Not as such, as you need to find what’s the source of their information and if you do point out the error, they will usually answer with something like “I’m just a Database, I’m not responsible for what’s been put in me, what do you want me to do about it”. Maybe added continuation of “I can agree with the information being disputed, if you want me to do that”.

month on month, everything gets worse and more noise to filter out. Can’t be the only one with this sentiment.

I learned to ignore it, it’s there like a traffic noise.

it’s worse than you imagined… yes, even worse.
Once you hit that situation you’ll have to simply wait for the body and mind to re boot. Nutrition helps but it won’t be a silver bullet in my view. What’s worrying is the note on communication, seems you’ve been running on fumes for a long time, to the point you can’t will yourself to push forward. Rest, hydrate, take vitamins and let the body resets itself.
Depending on the exhaustion it can be more than few days of rest, it can last a week or more, depending what’s your source of stress. If you can maybe take a day off from work, at least in the past I’ve had the luck of having a doctor that didn’t complicate if I simply said that I’m too exhausted to make a safe trip to work. Otherwise do the bare minimum and put other activities on hold, re connect with people after few days, even if you won’t be up to it. Socialization is important, even if you’ll feel more tired after the meet up, at least that’s how it usually went with me.
