Who are you writing it for? Are you writing it for other people, or because you enjoy it and want to do it? If the former, I’m sure there’s people out there who would read it, even if your friend is a bit of a dick. If the latter, what does it even matter what other people think? If you’re enjoying writing it, it’s time well spent regardless of what happens afterwards.

I grew up in exactly that kind of environment; really, the land (and the wildlife that comes with it) is the bit I miss the most. I’d take a very modest house on a decent plot of land in the middle of the woods to living in a city.

ICE claims that preventing deporting him to Liberia is a “direct contradiction to established judicial norms” - as though it’s normal to deport people to entirely different places to where they’re from.
I would love to use these ‘established judicial norms’ to deport this entire administration to Antarctica, but I’d feel bad about inflicting them on the researchers working there.

Oh… You’re correct. Reading comprehension is apparently not my strong suit tonight.

Which is weirdly not reflected by your graph, which shows Flying as having a very low desire to die…
Poor guy. It’s the ultimate betrayal.

The rest of the conversation, though, was about a (mostly) exclusively American thing, relating to lobbying and legislation against Wikipedia and IA. I’ve got no problem with shitting on the US for things we’re actually doing, but saying the public doesn’t support Wikipedia when we’re actually the #1 supporter worldwide of Wikipedia feels kind of disingenuous.

sane Americans largely take Wikipedia for granted
North America is Wikipedia’s largest funding source by a factor of more than 2. I’m not sure why you’re calling Americans out here.
Are you supposing that IA is better known in other countries than in the US? Are you basing that on anything?

Watership Down… The old one, not the newer remake. Just so much fucked up imagery and awful themes in that. Legitimately have me nightmares as a kid.
Not really a kid’s movie, but I remember seeing Darkman on TV when I was pretty young and having the image of his horribly burned, disfigured face burned into my memory.
Seems perfectly reasonable. How better to get close to people - looking like you’re cosplaying an assassin, or looking like someone the mark would want to get close to?
Didn’t even try to mask the AI in that image, huh?

On Friday, government lawyers in the lawsuit filed a court record which said they asked the plaintiffs to remove the videos “from the internet due to concerns that the publication of the videos could subject the witnesses and their family members to undue harassment and reputational harm.” The filing then said that Fox specifically “has been subject to harassment and has received a number of death threats since the videos and video clips were publicized and circulated.”
They caused an untold number of actual, real-world deaths through their actions, but we can’t let them get harassed for it!
Boo fucking hoo.
“What’s the charge? Eating a child? A succulent human child?”

Well, this is a fresh kind of hell…

Not the same character at all. The game starts with you playing as his actual daughter at the very start of the zombie crisis. She dies in the first 10 minutes of the game, then the game time-skips to the point where the rest of the game takes place. It sets up the reason Joel develops a connection with Ellie in the first place.

I remember playing that with other kids in elementary school. We knew the first 6 or 8 moves, then would just make it up from there… we’d end up with a complete mess of string, but we didn’t care, and we’d keep going anyway.

I honestly love this. I find it interesting to spot the times when games do this. I think the Mass Effect elevators was the first game I really noticed it in, but some games are really good at hiding it.

Already has, but loading screens are too quick now to make it worth actually doing.
