3 hours each way? Would you elaborate on how that came to be? I’m flabbergasted.

Roughly: 1 liter freshly-picked dandelions flowers. (No stems or green stuff. Pour 1 liter boiling water. Two days in a dark place. Strain. Add 1 lemon and 1 orange, quartered, 250g sugar. Boil for 30 minutes
Wait til it’s back to room temperature and add 10ml yeast.
Cover with cloth, wait 1 month
Wild flowers. I’m about to make dandelion wine, and, later, poppy jelly.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I'd like to ask everyone, which movie have you rewatched more than three times?
0·21 days agoMost definitely Big Fish. Every time I swear I won’t cry; every time I end up sobbing. With snot.
It just hits too close to home. I even had to trigger-warn my 55-year-old dad, to whose home it hits even closer.

0·26 days agoI don’t shave my armpits anymore. After a year or so, I even started liking my armpit hairs.

0·28 days agoIn the rural are I’m in, my year old neighbor recently spanked her 2 year old grandson in front of me, on the street, because… he was walking into my yard while the adults were chatting. Which was a total non-issue. The kid’s mom, her daughter, wasn’t there. I’m cordial with the neighbor, but we’re not friends, and she had zero reason to think I’d condone it. It was so matter-of-fact. My own 9 year old was aghast. It’s awful.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's Gutenberg, epub files, and old books written in 1900's?
0·28 days agoI used to proofread boons on Project Gutenberg in 2004 or so. 2006 at the latest. It’s internet-old.
Edit As a proofreader with 20+ years of experience, I’ll leave the typo.

0·1 month agoHere in France rentals must have them, I believe. But I’ve never known anybody whose home caught fire. Maybe it has to do with building materials and regulations? In my région buildings are stone. My house had 90cm-thick granite walls. Radon is a bigger concern than fire.

I honestly don’t know. When my phone dies I go to the nearest phone store and ask for the cheapest android phone they have in stock. They ask me what brand I want, what features are important to me–cheapest. They warn me that the phone isn’t as good as OtherPhone’s–cheapest. And the battery…–cheapest.
If I had to venture a guess I’d say it’s a Redmi? And I suppose it’s bad.
It was 150€ 4 years ago. I can’t fathom sinking 500€ on a phone.
