Very interesting article. I sometimes have to buy clothes for my elderly mobility-impaired aunt. At first I thought I could just go buy a bunch of “Size (whatever)” but as this article says that doesn’t work. So I took the pants that fit her best, measured it all over with a tape-measure, and went into the store. That STILL didn’t work because some pants “sit higher/lower” or had elastic that changed the way it fit.
When I was a kid we didn’t have a lot of money and clothes were more expensive. So various members of our extended family would make clothes for us (sewing or knitting). I now appreciate how awesome that was.
I’ve basically given up on having “heroes”. I don’t admire people, I may admire various things that they accomplish, tho.

“Everyone knows something. Nobody knows everything.” If you focus on what you don’t know, ofc you will not feel smart. But you know something, so focus on that. Even if it’s not directly relevant, a lot of advances are made by taking ideas from a similar discipline and applying them to a current problem.
Why are people downvoting this? I might quibble with 1 or 2 points, but it’s good advice. (no, really, I’m interested in knowing why people are downvoting this…)

Once might be an error, but twice? I’m guessin it’s intentional. Like, why is this couple sitting underwater? The artist prolly put weird little things like that to make people look around for them. Whimsical, bc it’s the family section of the train.

Well if you’re on the lemmy.world default web interface there should be a “Create Community” button at the top of the page. I never used it tho.
If you want to look for existing communities, check out the Lemmy Explorer. Apparently there are several existing MMA communities: https://lemmyverse.net/communities?query=martial+arts One strategy is to take over an existing community: 1) contact the listed mod, 2) if they don’t answer then contact Support for that instance and ask to be made a mod. But if you end up just making your own community, then you can make posts announcing it on all those old communities.
Check out !fedigrow@lemmy.zip especially the “weekly thread - how is everybody doing with their communities?”, it’s basically people giving each other regular advice about that.
