You’re in the comments trying to act like you’re more noble, but if your very first angle and the one you built your post on is about profitability then you’ve already lost. You made a strawman and are just mad that it was called out.

Yea, renewables would be better, for sure. Talk about that, then, if that’s what you really care about.

  • To be honest, I’m so full of rage at the system and the people who prop it up that every so often I just need to let myself feel happy and proud of the people who live in said system and help to starve it, not feed it.

Absolutely there are people who like it because it helps validate their shitty positions but there are also people who just need a win to keep them going in pushing back. It helps to know that your anger is not a lonely anger, that your need for justice is not unique and small.

  • And still, I don’t get their use case unless it’s to be deliberately sneaky. Even their own ads are just “if you’re a pathetic idiot with no friends or ability to plan ahead even a little bit, these are the glasses for you!”

At a fancy restaurant by yourself and don’t know how the utensils work?

Need a hotel and just wanna blindly trust your glasses?

Can’t speak the local language at a resort full of anglophones and the attendant for some reason only speaks that language?

Or maybe you’re at a concert by yourself and really need to film something(you don’t, everyone else should be putting their fucking phones away, too).

Like LLMs, they’re a sad technology for sad, stupid people.

  • Ok? Really just sounds like the commuter rail could come more often which is a very easy fix. Public transit is pretty much only ever bad because governments won’t fund it, car-centric infrastructure is highly propritized and its peak is still trash.

Traffic is bad enough here, adding the million people who use just the metro per day to that would be the end of it all, and that’s not to mention our bike network and ability to walk to so many things. We upgrading our commuter rail to a proper high-frequency, dual-direction light rail system that will connect much of the island that has never been properly served. It’s gunna pop the hell off.

  • See, what you’re not getting is that the average US experience is just incredibly fucking mid. I live in Canada, specifically Montréal because the rest of the country is very much like the US. Cars are the only way to get around, you can’t even safely and confidently ride a bicycle in most North American cities.

The best the US has to offer is worse than pretty good but not the best in the EU. The worst the EU has to offer is nowhere near as bad as a fairly common, even if not universal, experience in the states.

Nothing from of either of our comments even fuckin’ matters though because this post is specifically calling out the people who think sitting in traffic “freedom” but 15 minute cities are tyrannical overreach.

You’re right, but your example is putting you in the category of people you’re explaining. You couldn’t find a single better example? Really?

Here’s one: People at the metro will try to get on before others get off. They will just push their way past them like if they don’t get on right this second then the train will leave without them. It makes it harder for everyone else and the whole scenario is easy to see from all perspectives, yet they still miss it. No guessing reasons, just moronic selfishness.
