All of that is justified because of the almost infinite post humans living in the simulation in the future after all the colonization is done.

Bostrom’s conclusion is that we should colonize the universe as soon as possible
Always funny how this sort of transhumanist utilitarianism was already argued against in sid meiers alpha centauri (1999) (also called SMAC).
“Resources exist to be consumed. And consumed they will be, if not by this generation then by some future. By what right does this forgotten future seek to deny us our birthright? None, I say! Let us take what is ours, chew and eat our fill.”
CEO Nwabudike Morgan
It is prob interesting in general that so many transhumanist etc ideas are already in SMAC, which predates a lot of stuff. Shows how much of it was already science fiction before the various tescrealists came around and tried to give it the wrapper of being new actually scientific ideas.
(That ingame there also is the game mechanic where doing something turn n is always better than doing it turn n+x is also interesting, makes you wonder just how much of this all is video game thinking (the best strategy ingame is to be the human hive and to build as much cities as close together as possible as fast as possible (infinite city sprawl))).

Whereas Josh had encouraged us to make a single confession, Aella proposed to extract confessions from all of us at once, continuously, for the better part of an hour.
Ah, more ‘we are not a cult’ shit.
but if there’s anything to fear about them, it’s their belief that there should be no secrecy.
Except for SlateScots emails.
or maybe they don’t believe in withholding damaging information at all.
You just talked about SlateScots real name, and didn’t mention his name. Be a little bit self aware please.

an online right-wing subculture with tech overtones, which was somewhat interconnected with the rationality community
They admit it!

The rationalist in the comments calling the piece bad epistemics is chefs kiss.

It is just a case of efficiency, they are good at making money, not spending it, so we should tax them.

I assume it is just the genetics/iq fanboying which leads them to think like this, not some weird antisemitic dogwhistle, not that philosemitism isn’t also a form of antisemitism via othering.

So which of you is running Said Achmiz’s account?
Reversing a diaspora only works if the diverse elements of the diaspora are allowed to participate in the repatriation. For example, the State of Israel’s legitimacy as a homeland for the Jewish people depends on its including all Jews as the concept has been historically and publicly understood. If a faction of Ashkenazi Jews seized power and arbitrarily decided that Sephardic Jews can’t be Israeli, that would seriously undermine the foundations of why many people supported the Zionist project in the first place.
Lol wow that is quite an argument to use. Made even worse by stuff like this

His first image looks like cell from dragon ball z. The plagiarism machine at work.
People have been doing this ‘this thing drawn as an anime (girl)’ thing for ages now btw, but the bonus of doing it by hand is a unified style which is part of the appeal, a thing missing here.
Funny that this whole article is just another distraction of the hard work of actually learning the things he wants to learn.
And looking at the upvotes, nobody there wants to learn these things they just want to look at anime. Get a different hobby folks.

Also this only works as long as the legal system isnt taken over.

The whole title of Yuds book also isnt going to help.

We have a similar thing and a politician I know was in active contact with the devs because it misrepesented them. Eventually he got the information from them that they can only base their answers on stuff that was on the official websites (so no other official documents, notes from meetings, etc etc). So he made a special page on the website just for them, and the answer was changed.
My opinion of those things was already low, but this made it lower.
(Funny detail that last time I took one of those tests i was more left/progressive than any political party in .nl by far. I ignored it and voted for the green left woman who I onow works mega hard and has a good heart).

I thought about it, and I don’t think I have any real questions, first I hope your are ok. But that isn’t really a question. And secondly I was thinking about how a lot of questions I could ask feel more about me wanting to after a group I dislike than helping a victim out. Even a question like ‘Did their internal processes give you support and some justice at least?’ is answered by you coming here and offering this AMA.
So, the questions I more have is are you ok? And do you currently have a support network that is helping you out with things?
And for the rest I just think that if you feel like there are things you want to share you should share those (I think looking at your post you seem to want to talk about the harm reduction methods at those events, but not sure. Any important lessons we could take from that?) but don’t want to pressure people into that, and also don’t think I personally can totally do justice to the severity of situations like that. (which is of course on the problems with the discourse around SA).
I enjoyed a different type of takedown than our more usual method of pointing out the weird nested asumptions.
it has become painfully clear that there is some sort of intrinsic value to the truth of the art, of the experience that creates it, to the backstory that connects it to reality.
This has been a thing for a while now already, even before gen AI in gaming that there often was, for a lot of people a preference to playing with others, as in various games any npc AI, or randomly generated events (like in skyrims dynamic quests) were seen as less interesting than real human interactions/created things.

Ow yeah, the name is just foolish. Just think the idea of disclosing how sure you are as a community norm isn’t bad. Of course, they can’t even do that seriously.

Yeah, as somebody who actually thinks the Epistemic status stuff isnt a bad idea.
‘look at how they massacred my boy’

I do like the lack of selfawareness here of the leader of the anti-Agipocalypse house.
Yeah, if you are a bit weird, and create a weird cause you will attract weird people.

Get that heresy out of here, pope or nope!
Time to add another book to the list.
