It is just violence…

That is what I often hear from clowns who have never been in a fight or in prison.

From a privacy concern, maybe anti-body cam/FLOCK camera, sunglasses could be cool.

Is this just more “just punch them in the face” drivel?

You don’t think convention centers have phones on the wall?

Are you talking about phone booths or payphones? How is that going to help if you are in an active shooter scenario and have to run and hide? Are you going to cram into a booth or line up along the walls and make easy target? Again, THINK.

And you think running 100 m to get your cell phone in the lockers outside the event is too far?

In the event of an emergency? With people milling about and causing a panic? YES. In an emergency SECONDS count. I get that you are privileged enough to have never been in one, or never had to train for one, but please - think.

And how will they do that? How will they justify disallowing someone’s ability to call for an ambulance or receive emergency calls from one for whom they function as carer and emergency contact?

What a fucking clown opinion. As if a night is the punishment you receive ANYWHERE for assault and battery. Tell me you have never been in a fight without telling me.

And violence is not a great way to respond to legal acts. Especially not when you are being recorded. Perhaps try some anger management before you end up letting your emotions get the better of you and land you in the slammer?

Yeah, good luck banning smart phones. Are you just a Luddite? I mean I get that smart phones have atrociously problematic aspects to them, but they have been the single most impactful invention of this century and most of our daily life is built around it.

I mean the outrage over smart glasses based on meta selling your data is valid, but the outrage over “perverts recording women” is about as justified as the outrage over “transwomen sexually abusing women in women’s spaces”. Sure it happens, but not nearly as often as it is made out to be.

If we are wrong to tar all trans people with the same brush because of the actions of a few creeps, we ought to be wrong to do so with people who enjoy smart glasses. I don’t own them, but if you had shown me an open source pair of glasses that basically gave me the ability to scan my surroundings for shit I had lost, turn mundane tasks like doing the washing up into video games and record action footage from my bike rides, I would probably buy some.

Yupp, but when we discuss pervert glasses it often boils down to people being recorded without their knowledge and consent in public. Any private venue can prohibit certain behaviors at their own discretion. What I wanted to explore was if it is the act of surreptitiously recording people that upsets us or if it was something else like what they were recording people doing, or what kind of people they were recording.

Cool. What about in public places in 1 party consent states? I am thinking specifically about recording the actions of law enforcement.

Would a hidden body cam be okay to bring, or is it all “secret filming” that is outlawed during this highly recorded event in a televised venue?

The US is certainly the most influential of the Americas. When people refer to “America” they mean USA. When people say “North America” they mean USA and Canada, even though Mexico is technically part of North America. I am neither American, nor part of the Americas. I just find it funny that people have been using term for centuries and some nationalist Mexicans and south Americans are just now getting upset about it.

Well hidden cameras are a great tool for the under privileged to record systematic oppression by law enforcement and other agents in society.
