I got woken up by a caller in the middle of my afternoon nap, a big no-no where I come from. Since I was underage, they asked if my dad was home.

I told them, all concerned, that we hadn’t heard from my dad in months, and we were also looking for him. Asked the caller to please call us back if they managed to find him, as we were very worried.

That was the first and only time that a spam caller hanged up on me! Great times.

I used to know of a plugin, years ago, that would remove all DRM from ebooks at the time of import into Calibre

After arriving to a new country and seeing different ppl (I.e. non-white) asked the question “Ok, but where are you really from?”, I realised asking about roots could be seen as rude by association.

I defaulted to asking, if the conversation heads that way, “Did you grow up around here?” As I see this question assumes you’re a local, and at the same time it’s broad enough for others to respond however they want.
