Rimu is GOAT.

Rimu is GOAT.

Oh its much worse than that. There is this segment of rich tech bros who have emerged from an unregulated silicon valley. After decades of having their egos stroked there is a sort of tech fetish cult emerging. Thiel is the most prominent example of this but there are many others who are into this as well. They literally believe that AI will herald some sort of religious revelation. If you are opposed to AI or seek to regulate AI of course you are the antichrist. I wish I was making this up.
The only reason this matters is because these rich tech bro assholes haven’t ever had to pay taxes and the more money you have, the louder your voice is and the more you can pay to influence politics.

I wish there was a site that tracked new games for old consoles. I have no idea what’s out there.

Oh wow this is a much needed move from them. Keeping their data only in the US is a huge risk these days.

I wonder how a lawsuit like that would have any merit.

It’d be nice if there was a way to de-clickbait article titles automatically.

Harder to defend is assuming the company you work for is interested in defending it instead of using it as a form of punishment.

I wasn’t implying to accept it. I would say actively resisting it, complaining to the companies that utilize it, elect reps that will implement useful regulations is better. To just hide in a corner of the Internet doesn’t accomplish much though.

I’m not sure this is the right mindset to have. Sure you can isolate yourself for a while but at some point your bank will use this shit. Your doctor will send you a message via their orgs website. Your grocery store will charge you obscene prices if you don’t use their app. The Internet has not been an optional utility for many years now.

I still use RIF. Doesn’t work very often but I don’t read reddit that often.

If you have to self police like that, you might have a gay porn problem.

I would like to know how we got to this point. One article I read made the point that counter culture was always a product of conservatism. I don’t know if I agree with that. I felt like tech in the 70s-90s was more utopian. Tech will democratize the world, it will level the playing field, it will bring an age of information to everyone, etc. These words aren’t much different from the life changing™ slogans used about each software update now so it feels more convoluted. I’d like to know because personally I want to know if it was just me who felt utopian about this stuff back then and its always been this downward spiral, or did something change at some point?

Interesting how giant stupid trucks attract douchebags world wide.

It’s really bad when you start to see how many bots and astroturfing there is. Accounts with thousands of posts a year stirring up shit in all the contentious threads.

I mean ebay is ok but I do miss things like half.com. Is this the enshitificarion of eBay now?

Why would anyone get their hopes up about a Microsoft product?

It says one of the main reasons the city is sinking is ground water extraction. Is there any effort to stop this to prevent further sinking? Can they bring in water from elsewhere?

I can’t hear any of these because all nearby police radio is encrypted.
The open source insulin project comes to mind. It’s be nice if there were more projects like that.
I can guarantee you these tech bros take it seriously. Because they don’t have to pay taxes and have boat loads of money it means they are quite serious.
