Gender and sexuality have made leaps and bounds since then and episodes that deal with it similarly now are more likely to be broadcast. It’s the same spirit as before, just catching up with the times.

That’s definitely not the text Sisko should have. I think it got switched with Janeway by accident. She didn’t arrange the death of a Romulaan high official to involve another nation in support of her war (and do a whole episode about how they can live with it), or poison whole planets for personal vendetta. 🤷‍♂️
