Even VPN isn’t enough. Ex. One time I wanted to watch a show that’s only available on Amazon Prime India according to justwatch. VPN isn’t enough because I’m using US-based Amazon account and I have to create an Amazon IN account per Amazon’s policies. And for that I need an India phone number for verification. So of course I don’t want to spend money on account setup especially since I don’t know if it’ll work. So I setup Azure VM based in India (in case they use location) but it still got stuck on the phone verification or puzzle loop so there’s nothing I can do unless I find a friend in India and use their account :(

Technology@lemmy.world•Windows 12 release date in 2026 possible, with AI features that may force CPU upgradesEnglish
2·2 days agoAgree, Windows 11 is now harder to use now than Linux distro like Mint. Just to setup, you have to create a Microsoft account and if you want to skip that, then you have to put commands in powershell or use rufus to disable all that.
And don’t get me started on forced restarts for updates, the abysmal S0 modern sleep implementation, and so many more. I have to use gpedit.msc just to fix these issues. I think the only reason why Windows still has such a high market is because of enterprise agreements and that it’s pre-installed on every PC laptop.

2·2 days agoHave you used the latest macOS 26? The UI is terrible and constant bugs and glitches with the new liquid glass look.
Windscribe doesn’t work with p2p in their free tier anymore: https://windscribe.com/knowledge-base/articles/does-windscribe-allow-peer-to-peer-p2p-traffic/
I used to use Windscribe free tier before I paid to get proper unlimited VPN (Proton VPN).
Now for similar free VPN for torrent, I recommend PrivadoVPN. That still worked for me when I tried 3 months ago.
I recommend installing jackett: https://github.com/Jackett/Jackett
It’s a tool that searches major torrent sites at once and it integrates right into qbitorrent which simplifies things a lot.
“This show is not available in your country” is the one that pisses me off the most. The Internet connects the entire world and then we have unnecessary artificial barriers like georestriction for no reason. There’s foreign shows I’ve been wanting to watch but they’re not available on torrents and only on these georestricted platforms so I can’t even watch it even if I’m willing to pay (which I am for few films).

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Trump announces Operation Epic Furry
0·4 days agoSome of the smartest people I’ve met are furries. So many Software Engineers and IT furs. Also met some who are government contractors so you’re not far off lol X3
Not just Lockheed. RTX, Northrop, Boeing Defense, etc. From my interactions, I’ve found the ppl who willingly work fulltime at those companies either are extremely ignorant or brainwashed into thinking that they are working for the right side.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Today is the 40th Anniversay of Zelda!English
0·13 days agoI remember playing Zelda I on an emulator. The progression was absolutely brutal since the game doesn’t give any hints on where to go. I don’t know how people back in the day did it without guides and walkthrough vids. Still an amazing game that was really ahead of its time (and I believe the first console game to save!)

yeah not available on any torrent sites. I checked all of the major ones through Jackett and it returned no results. If you’re curious, the name of the movie is “Kulkarni Chaukatla Deshpande”. There’s a couple movies like that that are available on Amazon Prime India but not on torrent trackers.
