The process at the airport is theater for the most part. They routinely miss dangerous items. The process for TSA Pre is a background check that is probably only as rigorous as a police background check, but it at least screens out some criminals. Global Entry is more rigorous and looks a bit deeper, but it isn’t as deep as a real security clearance.
My only issue with relaxing the process at the airport for everyone is that everyone on planes these days is stressed and angry, at least in the US. I don’t want it to be easier to bring a gun or knife onto a plane with people as angry and irritated as they are now. I’m not afraid of terrorists. I’m afraid of Florida Man with his MAGA hat getting into a fight with a person and stabbing them.

I don’t understand these numbers. 59 + 39 != 100. Did 2% vote for a 3rd party?
Yes. I know a few conservative voters in my home state who hate Trump but refused to vote for either Clinton or Harris.

Good question.
I’m no longer against it now that I understand it better, which is how most things work in the world. It’s tough, because I struggle with wealthy people having access to opportunities that normal people don’t have, even with stuff as small as fast passes at amusement parks. But TSA Pre is a security screening process ahead of time, so it’s more like making a reservation at a restaurant instead of showing up and putting your name on the wait-list. It also isn’t expensive or out of reach of anyone who can afford a plane ticket to fly just about anywhere.

“Then you probably have looked at the facts of the situation and came to a logical conclusion while also having empathy towards people who don’t look like you.”
Nah, it probably says something offensive.

“certain people”
You do realize TSA Pre isn’t like a super expensive thing that only rich people have, right? I get it free with at least two credit cards and also get it free with my airline status. My airline status comes from flying for work so much. Either way, it’s only $70 per year. We’re not talking millionaire-level exclusivity here.
give those people a small reminder of reality for the rest of us.
Most of those “certain people” going through TSA Pre and Global Entry fly far more often than you. They are fully aware of the reality of flying and how much it sucks. Business travelers have gone through the shit you go through on your once a year vacation. Some of them have it paid for by their company as a perk. Some of them get it through airline status (which means they flew a lot before they got this perk). Some of them get it through a credit card perk (which will be used during business travel where the company will reimburse costs).
All of them gave the government a bunch of sensitive personal information to get pre-screened before going to the airport so that they didn’t have to stand in line with people who haven’t been pre-screened.
You have to deal with an hour of bad annoyance once or twice a year… and you are mad that people who have to fly 12 or more times per year are able to avoid some of that annoyance after being vetted through another annoying process?? How evil are you?

It’s not just a “pay for less abusive treatment.” In order to get approved for TSA Pre and Global Entry, you have to go through a screening process where you volunteer your personal and professional information. You have to actively give them MORE invasive information to avoid the more physical invasions at the airport. It isn’t just like buying a Fast Pass at Disney. There is a second layer of security screening ahead of the line, so it makes sense that they can spend less time with you at the airport.
As a frequent business traveler who has a security clearance (so they already know every tiny detail about me anyway), it was a no-brainer. I used to be against it, too… until I had to go through security at DEN.

A) While many of us are total morons at that age about a lot of things, by that point in your life most people know not to be hateful toward others. Even so, I will concede that we should be more forgiving of the things she said.
B) The point is not that she was too young to know what she said was wrong. The point is that she dated Elon while he was publicly and outwardly a batshit crazy Nazi. It’s one thing for the other women who dated him when he was better at hiding how crazy he was, but this child was conceived AFTER he did the Nazi salute multiple times on stage in public. At 23 years old you should know not to date a literal Nazi.

Seriously. Just go into /r/conservative and look what “news” they are reading. It is all rage-bait stories about violence in the world caused by people of color or immigrants or leftists. There are no stories at all about the shutdown. I was flying home from vacation two days ago and could see the Fox News stories on a guy’s TV in front of me. It was all rage-bait with no actual news stories, not even fake news stories blaming Democrats for the shutdown.
So what would happen to all of those bank accounts of people on work visas?
