Ads suck hard, but avoiding them was just one of the plethora of advantages of early streaming. Early Netflix had what felt like infinite content, on demand, for a fraction of the price of cable. That’s why the majority of cord cutters ditched cable; price. Avoiding ads was definitely a factor but it was hardly the main one for most of us.
The modern streaming industry has embraced ads in a way that feels somehow grimier than cable because the ads are targeted and we all know it’s greed that’s put them there.
Streaming killed cable though? Streaming was so good and reasonably priced I had no good reason to pirate. Now the streaming services are more jam packed with ads and as expensive as cable was, so it’s back to the high seas for me matey.

A lot of these guys think there’s loads and loads of centrist voters who the DNC can sway with a more moderate candidate. I grew up in the 90’s and it was mostly the same. Leave home at like 9am to just go start knocking on friends doors to see who was available. Get a group together for some tag or ballgame if the weather was good, stay inside and play with toys if the weather was bad. Rule was to call home by 5 so my mom would know if she should prepare dinner for us or not.
I’ve never been in a house with a conversation pit, almost no Americans have actually seen one. They’re a leftover from the 60s and 70s when people were high on coke or “weight loss” pills.
Millennial here. I just remodeled my kitchen and bathroom. It was a fucking battle to get my wife to agree to wood cabinets instead of bland white or millennial blue. I got her to agree to a deep sea blue tile for one shower wall because almost everything else in the bathroom was white or grey.
Most people don’t have originality or any sense of color, so they look online and see these sterile white rooms that photograph well but lack character. They just mimic what they see because it’s easier than having actual preferences.
A lot of us are pretty far left for the USA and believe the DNC is compromised by corporate money. I dislike the Democrats but the GOP is run by MAGA who I believe betrayed our country Jan 6th.
