If I’m talking to my neighbor and I make a joke about how eating cookies will make them explode and they begin to seriously lecture me about how there is no evidence that cookies make people explode and accuse me of lying, I’m going to assume there is something mentally wrong with them. For me, if evidence pops up years down the road that it has a statistically increased chance of causing cancer or whatever, it’s no big deal because I know regulations have to be written in blood because that blood is the evidence that there is a problem. We can’t act till we have evidence.
