Can anyone who works in the security space tell me if we are as cooked as I think we are?

With ai I’m assuming any script kiddie with motivation has access to a SIGNIFICANTLY larger surface area of attacks. And sometimes I do stupid things like wait an extra few days before updating my pc/software.

I have this suspicion that everything digital is far more vulnerable now than it ever was. But I have only surface level knowledge in the space. Is it as bleak as I think?

I’m usually very pro consumer but I’m less bothered by this one because apple has 0 incentive to abuse that power. People would riot. Although thinking about it a government demanding its use could be a concern too…

I think people underestimate the power of collective action. People have been underplaying the strengths of these actions in online discourse to the point where I wonder if its coordinated.

Being loud and boycotting does work. And even if it doesn’t why support anti consumer practices.

Non fiction I’d recommend atomic habits (self help), nuclear war: a scenario (existential horror), and Outliers (thought provoking).

Fiction I’d recommend There is no Antimemetics division (regular horror), Exhalation (thought provoking short stories), and A Memory Called Empire (very good commentary on cultural assimilation).
