(mark my words, this will almost certainly happen)

She’s in a very difficult position, of her own creation, nonetheless.

More legitimacy theater.

I know that the courts are still ruling against Trump and the Republicans fairly regularly, but then I hear about situations where they’re simply ignoring the courts’ rulings and little seems to actually happen as a result.
There has to be a mechanism of enforcement for an order to having meaning. For non-lawyer disobeyers, normally what a judge would do is hold someone in contempt and have federal marshals or sheriffs arrest the person. In this situation, no federal judge is going to request the US Marshals arrest a member of the Trump administration because it would create a constitutional crisis and because the executive legal team would immediately appeal it to his Supreme Court who would overrule them. So a smart judge doesn’t want the crisis and knows they will get overruled and won’t use federal Marshal arrest power. As a result, there is no mechanism for non-lawyers. A lawyer like Janine Pirro may have to deal with an ethics complaint, but most of the people in the executive branch doing arguably illegal things aren’t lawyers. So then what? There’s no solution to this, it’s uncharted territory and a complete disaster.

I don’t know the circumstances, but occasionally judges toss trivial things to punish DAs for messing up. It rarely impacts cases with larger punishments. You’re likely referring to a misdemeanor case where the defendant may have gotten a plea deal for 6 months and had a good job and time in jail would have messed that up and resulted in a waste of county resources. Also, things like this occasionally happen to create the illusion of legitimacy. I am not sure if this is a case you read or if you witnessed the judge’s ruling, but the fact that you’re using what is likely a case that carries less than 365 days max time as an example of how a judge will destroy a DAs entire case is in itself revealing.
Have any circuit court examples of cases carrying 10 years? 20 years? Life? No? Oh, I wonder why. Are you a clerk? Assisting an ADA? You’re completely biased and want to see things working. Go read about how impossible it is for the harmless error rule to get overcome on appeal, go read about how structural errors are essentially ignored or the remedy isn’t even release but just go back to start. There’s plenty of articles about this.
https://harvardlawreview.org/print/vol-131/harmless-errors-and-substantial-rights/
I also once saw someone steal a soda from a store and was going to get a month in jail but the judge tossed the entire case because the DA made a procedural error! The system must work!

Go learn about the harmless error rule. You are incredibly naive. DAs and cops break the rules ALL THE TIME because once there’s a conviction the burden of proof shifts and a defendant, now convicted, in prison has the burden of proving (somehow, while behind bars) that in a theoretical other version of reality they wouldn’t have been convicted had the error not been made.
It’s a nearly impossible standard to meet, especially difficult after conviction, and the remedy is not even necessarily release, merely a new trial.
Not only that, even if a judge and DA and cops violate a defendant’s rights OVER AND OVER they still almost always apply the harmless error rule. Even if the trial is essentially infected with bias and procedural corruption (what could be deemed structural error), courts do not care.
Many decisions the court makes are just denials without opinions also, so it’s not like the court always even justifies why they ignore a convicted person’s request. In other words, the appellate cases you’re reading as a law student showing one defendant got released over an error is a cherry picked case chosen by the court either to create the illusion of a fair functioning system or chosen because the situation is so egregious (that means terrible) that courts will look bad if they don’t overturn it.
But no, there’s nothing functional here. You’re privy to nothing if you don’t understand that things haven’t really been functioning for a long time, primarily because the harmless error rule allows corrupt DAs cops and judges to do almost anything.

It’s shocking to me someone would want to watch this.
Harry Potter was never good. Why would someone even want to read a Harry Potter book obtained before 2020???
The TERF stuff didn’t make Harry Potter bad. It always sucked, and people only realized after the TERF stuff.
I neither need nor want your mythological blessings. Go find a flat earther who will appreciate them.
There are plenty of people in LA but sometimes artists or beautiful people travel in similar circles and people bump into each other. “BooBees” could be a film editor, or a mixing engineer, someone in fashion, or someone just hot enough or connected enough to get invited to parties in the hills. It’s not that far fetched.
There’s the Hollywood that Hollywood wants the public to see (to maximize money spent) and then the real Hollywood/LA and they can be really shockingly different. The machine will lie elaborately in convoluted ways to increase money slightly, and people in the industry are happy to go along, and generally so is everyone else in LA. Plenty of open secrets exist. It’s not even out of greed necessarily, but people in LA want to make more art which often requires more money to get made, so they will do anything to expand the pie.

Okay, so then he’s an Anti-Zionist and he may or may not be antisemitic after the racist costume and subsequent apology.

I don’t think that person was mad, I think they were pointing out why they think it’s not illustrative of Mackelmore being antisemitic.

It’s a pretty reasonable look at the context…

Does “from the river to the sea” mean ethnic cleansing of Israelis? I didn’t know that.
My limited knowledge of the situation is Jewish people left the area due to conflict, thousands of years passed, the Holocaust happened, British somehow “negotiated” their return (under threat of violence to the then-local population) and displaced Palestinians but Palestinians had some land, it just wasn’t as much, Jewish people were attacked and then retaliated by taking more land in the 7 days war, some Palestinians were mad at Israel and tried to attack Israel with rockets and other attacks, Israel then put tremendous and horrible restrictions on all Palestinians that were unreasonable and terrible and it just existed like that (and this part of the situation I believe is greatly understated as being a main cause of this situation), Palestinians elected Hamas that wanted to kill all Jewish people, Hamas killed and kidnapped a bunch of Jewish teenagers at a rave, many of whom were having fun and probably on ecstasy when the attack happened which in some ways is more horrifying, and then also killed a bunch of Israelis in settlements, including babies, then Israel retaliated against Hamas by in theory targeting specific Hamas members but also committing a huge massive number of war crimes, many of which were documented on TikTok, and then TikTok was bought out to try to hide the war crimes and Jewish allies tried to do things like dismantle or weaken the International Criminal Court, then people who were against war crimes were fired from work and penalized for speaking out, which looked really bad for Jewish people, even Jewish people who weren’t a part of the situation.
I knew Hamas wanted to kill all Jewish people. I just didn’t know that slogan means ethnic cleansing of Jewish people. It’s hard to think in those terms when most of the dead people are Palestinians, many of whom likely weren’t political, but does it mean that? Because I’ve heard a lot of liberal and leftist types repeat that; is it actually a call for Jewish ethnic cleansing?, because that is quite scary.
This may be a post that primarily just illustrates my ignorance of geography. What river? What sea? Perhaps it seems innocuous because I don’t understand International geographical stuff, sort of like how some people from the US say Europe is a county they never want to visit. It’s interesting to me because I’m somewhat ignorant, but so are lots of people. Do most people view that slogan as a call for ethnic cleansing?
It still doesn’t mean the war crimes were okay. There was a ton of stuff just posted on TikTok, all out in the open, for months, until it was bought out and taken down.

I’m still open to it…

Pink is succesfully minimizing and normalizing actual antisemitism with this garbage.
That’s a really interesting perspective.

Thanks for enlightening me with the photo.
So I still believe you can support human rights and not be an antisemite and be critical of human rights abuses of Gazans, but this is the sort of joke an antisemite might make. The again, he apologized.
I really believe people should be able to accidentally make mistakes and fuck up and not get cancelled. But this does put a slightly different spin on things where I can understand why people would question things. Because it’s more than just a mild costume, it’s reminiscent of historical Nazi depictions of Jewish people.
He may have just genuinely fucked up and not realized how disrespectful that was… or maybe he is an antisemite. But it’s sort of like the Musk Hitler salute and “how could you not know what that means or how people would react?” I think Makelmore is probably a decent person based on his history and probably just massively fucked up, but I could be wrong on that, and I really wish I didn’t have to wonder.
I still think Gazans are being treated horribly and human rights violations are occurring and people shouldn’t be penalized for wanting human rights standards.

Which part of Asia? It’s a big country. But I’m still interesting in finding out how to do this…
This is a really smart take on things.
