1·3 days agoThis feels very much like a low quality public tracker issue. Even on mid tier PTs I never run into this.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Will fireproof safes work in reverse?English
0·3 days agoJust a reminder these safes are not actually fireproof. They are fire resistant and people should check what they are rated for before buying.
While these tools are nice to get a jist of things they are prone to mistakes and misinterpration. You should not be relying on them if your threat model requires you actually know what data your giving away instead of just being curious.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Orion: a fantastic browser for IOS, Mac & Linux !English
0·8 days agoAll of your criticisms have nothing to do with privacy or security. Some of them, like what you said about mullvad, is rooted in fud. Which tells me we have different priorities when it comes to browser choice.
I will agree the brave shit is annoying but hopefully Brave Origin will fix that. Their fingerprint and tracker protection is undeniable though.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Orion: a fantastic browser for IOS, Mac & Linux !English
0·8 days agoNow that SecureBlue has made Trivalent available with its selinux architecture that should be everyones go to if your on a Fedora based system.
I’d take Mullvad or Brave on Windows over this
I’d also use Safari over this for anything in Apple ecosystem

Nobody serious about privacy or security should be recommending you keep using the pixel 6 after it goes EOL. Until then using GrapheneOS is a great choice.
After it’s EOL, if you can, you should get a newer phone. If not you should switch to an OS like Lineage (which is not that private or secure) that focuses on keeping older phone useful.

0·1 month agoI think its great that Europe is looking to rely less on US tech but nothing about whats going on with Europe (especially within the EU) makes me think privacy is a focus.

0·2 months agoI don’t think wanting people to suffer is a great goal but to each their own.
To be fair, building the binary is the same regardless of OS. The creator just decided to send the windows and Mac binaries off to a third party server and then paywall access. You can see this in the build.yml of the original repo.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•For those still looking for free Windows / Mac versions of Strawberry Music Player...English
0·2 months agoPersonally I like it because it makes managing my music library really easy. Especially when it comes to keeping everything organized in a way my Plex server likes as well.
It really depends on the individual. Some people really hate the outdated looking UI and don’t have much use for the audiophile features.

0·7 months agoThey lost me at calling ExpressVPN the gold standard. Even their audit is bs. KPMG is the same company that provides the “always-on” audit to PureVPN.
Any article that still uses the “eyes” as a factor in their evaluation is a massive red flag. Very public intelligence alliances are the least of your worries.

Glad this helped. DuckStreams is also a great stremio add-on as well.
There is also a live sports stremio addon that is supposed to drop soon if you aren’t comfortable with IPTV. Although the discord says its going to be $5 / month which is pretty expensive compared to what you can get IPTV for on G2G or Alibaba (for example I pay $30/yr and there are cheaper options then that)
