The ACTU is pushing the government to give all renters access to a minimum two-year lease.

It also wants to increase the rate of public housing being built from one in 50 to one in 10 new homes.

The above and other intelligent proposals outlined in the article sound great but will the govt take them up?

Yeah, let’s push small landlords out of business and let housing be controlled by a couple of big corps. So renters can’t even squawk, or they end up on a blacklist and are not able to rent again ever.
The government needs to support small landlords, not try to bankrupt them.

Yeah, let’s push small landlords out of business

What landlord will go out of business with these proposed changes? Exactly how?

Instead of chopping it up and getting no rental income for significant periods therefore bringing in less than ten years of rent. Less income than a lease agreeing to ten years of continuous tenancy and rental income.

I asked you exactly how. How does a signed ten year lease, committing to ten years of steady rental income, push a landlord out of business? You can even continue to raise the rent during those years!
