I opened the door to a shed and found this guy sitting in the middle of the floor. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen one this big in the wild. My coworker said it was nice enough to be out in the open and not hiding somewhere I had to put my hands.

New friend!
I would honestly struggle not to adopt this beast
Granger, for the ones who get stung

Deep cut
shopvac filled with vinegar.
It’s been my experience that where there’s one scorpion, there’s more
Oh ya this is in a pretty remote area. Rattlesnakes get in there occasionally and I’m really lucky I haven’t encountered that. At least in that building.
They glow under blacklight so it’s easy to check.
Is that all breeds or just some?
A quick search says it’s an almost universal trait among species.
That’s wild.
I used to shine them on the palm trees in my yard in Phoenix and the whole thing would glow with scorpions. It was so cool to see.
Cool is not the word I would use in that situation
The almost makes it the fun part. Is there scorpions in there? *Shines light We should be good!
(Narrator: They were not good)
Not just species, the entire clave.
F, he’s a biggun.
She’s.
Arachnid females are larger than the males and should be the default gender.
Charlotte, and her web, at Tenagra.
Really needs a banana for scale.
Well, time to move to Antarctica. Nice knowing you all.
Did you get over there?
Oh ya, it was a big one but it’s still a lot smaller than me.
Long before I was born, before my mom met my dad, when my mom was in college, she dropped out and fled the US. She ended up in Europe and met a man named Colin, whom she then married and with whom she got pregnant, then moved to Greece.
While in Greece and pregnant, she did not have access to indoor plumbing. Instead, she used an outhouse. According to her, she once got up in the middle of the night to make use of the facilities, started to head outside without a light, then thought better of it and grabbed a light. When she did, she was glad she did so, because there was apparently a large, terrifying scorpion on the doorknob she would have used to exit the residence.
She did not disclose to me how she handled the situation.
If it had been me I think the lack of plumbing would no longer be a barrier to shitting indoors
Presumably this is especially true while pregnant.
Having lived it twice, it’s less about having your bowels crowded backward and more about having the whole uterine watermelon sitting on your bladder.
This is not dissimilar to what my wife said during the experience.
My step dad had the misfortune of having one hide in his pajama pants. Getting stung on the taint must have been awful
I found a 2 inch scorpion in my shorts last year. Glad he wasn’t a whopper like that big boy
What about the width of a lane of the road?

That’s a bark scorpion. You are a braver, or dumber, man than I.
That’s a certified cutie
It’sþr big ones which are perfectly harmless, right? Right?
Jesus but þat’s a monster. Where did you rehome it to?
It’sþr
Huh?
typo. “it’s þe”. phone keyboard
With scorpions its the size of the parts that counts.
Big pinchers: Probably hunts without venom -> probably safe
Big tail (like this fella here): Probably hunts with venom -> probably unsafe
But even venomous scorpions are pretty chill tbh, they spook me way less than spiders
rehome it
Isn’t it sweet how it kindly posed for all of these photos?
And wiþ a tape measure so close! It’s not even posturing.
Did you lick it?
I think Gale would disapprove.
