There are different ways to reduce insurance premiums.

1. Ban expensive cars. Ban SUVs. They are very expensive to repair. Encourage people to drive golf carts. They are not expensive to repair.

2. Crack down hard on bad drivers. Ruthless enforcement of laws.

3. Reduce compensation to victims

4. Creating a mandatory public option. A government owned insurance company. That means endless lawsuits. If you want to undermine insurance companies, shouldn’t you do start with healthcare? Or dental plans? Why car insurance?

5. Subsidize insurance for poor people. California does that.. But this makes little sense. Should taxpayers really be subsidizing car ownership?

I tell you what would bring premiums down, nationalize healthcare coverage. Car insurance premiums would be cut by two thirds if it didn’t have to cover private healthcare premiums

Actual education with regular rigorous driver testing. Ruthless revocation of driving privileges for violations. Incarceration for serious offense, no outs for the rich. Fines proportionate to income.

That’s it. In 3 years the culture would be completely different.

Hit a family and leave the kids permanently disabled and orphaned, that’s going to cost a bit.

Or who is going to pay for their healthcare if not your insurance?

Dont even need to ban SUVs, just repeal the CAFE loophole for “non-passenger work vehicles.” Then the car companies will stop shoving them on everyone since they aren’t the most profit per unit anymore.
