My guy, if you don’t want people to complain about your favorite shit comic, either stop posting it or make your own bigot safe space. That’s the whole point of lemmy.
Then you can just ban the reasonable people that are telling you how trashy you are, and they can laugh at you over in c/powertrippingbastards.
I would strongly recommend you take your own advice and block people as necessary. Your comments are bordering on goading, and that too will not be tolerated.
no, i want the community to do that. i don’t understand why you’re always so aggressive in these threads. lemmy is not the place for that sort of behaviour.
but… i don’t have a personal problem with it? why aren’t you answering my question? you’re giving canned responses now, like i’m some sort of militant hater, rather than actually give a reason for what you’re doing
I feel like we just need to split comics. Whole point of lemmy is to basically allow us to fragment. so mods of world comics don’t care, why not pick an instance make a comic strips with a banned author list. If more people would like to be free of comics from unsavory authors they can move there.
His point (and point of people like him) isn’t to just not see certain comics as for this they would use a simple “block” button. Their point is to dictate to other people what they can see.
Funnily enough, all these people moaning are usually the same who pretty much never contribute any strips to this community.
No there’s a valid point to not want to be a part of a community that platforms the individuals. and I can certainly see a valid point in why blocking doesn’t solve it. 1. different users post from the artists, it’s not going to be met at an individual level.
IMO it should be a community level decision.
Though that’s why I still hold to the suggestion that this scism is large enough that a community should be made. Because I can agree with the concept, if the mods in a community don’t agree, making a new community is a solution
It’s not a block button. It’s a mute button. It means that the user who is muted can still see and interact with the posts and comments of the user who muted them. But the user who muted them can’t see or interact with the user they muted.
A block would work the way it does on places like Tumblr where regardless of who blocks who they accounts can no longer interact or see each other.
This is problematic specifically because I don’t trust you (or most people) to no abuse this work around. I don’t trust you specifically because you could have been blocking people who don’t like the content you post this whole time and yet here you are.
I also feel like given your reaction to things when proof has been provided that you don’t argue in good faith. That’s based on reading your comments just in this thread.
I don’t care if they ban you or don’t. I do care that the comics you post are having a detrimental effect on the community and you don’t seem to care about that. If you’re not here to build the community then I question your motives.
Which means he won’t be able to see what he doesn’t like.
A block would work the way it does on places like Tumblr where regardless of who blocks who they accounts can no longer interact or see each other.
Agreed - I wouldn’t mind blocking people to stop them complaining (I tried!) but it is sadly not an option. They need to use block button themselves.
. I do care that the comics you post are having a detrimental effect on the community
No, that’s not true.
you don’t seem to care about that
Also not true.
If you’re not here to build the community
I am pretty sure this community would welcome yours and other complainers contribution, ie more comic strips. Sadly, I noticed more vocal people are with downvoting and complaining, less strips they contribute.
Your assumption seems to be that the only contribution you can make to a community you are a part of is to be a content poster. This simply isn’t true. There’s value in the conversations and interactions people have with the content and not everyone contributes the same way.
This assumption you are making clearly leads your other assumptions about value vs detrimental effects and you are obtuse about what you mean when you say things like :
No, that’s not true.
What’s not true? That you have a detrimental effect or that I don’t care? How do you make that determination? What information and data are you using to quantify it?
I’m especially curious because as far as I can tell what ever “isn’t true” is just your opinion and it’s a singular one vs the opinions of several people which is where I’m quantifying my own data.
You can say you do care but actions speak louder than words.
If your only solution is to demand the action of others without examining your own actions when those actions are called out then we are having two different arguments here and you should stick to one topic at a time.
“Hundreds of people dislike or find fault with my actions so they should block me” is a statement that doesn’t actually have any thought behind it.
This is a comic community. If you are not placing any comics, you are not contributing. Nobody comes here to read comments, users are here to read comics.
That’s adorable but naive. That’s not how communities work.
Do you tell the people in your house that since they don’t contribute they aren’t worthwhile?
Also, you can stop trying to shift this to being about what other people contribute. What you contribute and how others view it is the subject. Moving the goal post because you are under fire us not acceptable.
Perhaps you could tell me why my other removed comment was ableist at least? I know calling someone a dumb dumb is meanie poo but that part doesn’t make any goddamn sense.
C/powertrippingbastards would love shit like this.
Then why bother replying? You could have just blocked me like dumb dumb OP could have done from the very begging, our literally any of the ‘moaners’ that hate him.
My is also a genuine question. You don’t like it? Block it, you won’t see it.
Unless of course your aim is to dictate other people what they are able to see.
i answered in the previous post: i personally don’t mind it but i care about making people feel safe in this space. now you answer me.
So, you want to dictate other people what they are able to see.
Hohohoooly shit the lack of self awareness is staggering.
https://lemmy.world/post/45687769
Your point is? This is precisely to stop morons from whinging. You know, people who prefer to moan instead of blocking.
just because of that i will continue to moan :)
I dunno, it seems like OP is doing plenty of moaning on their own.

My guy, if you prefer to keep moaning instead of blocking, be my guest. Counterproductive but hell, yeah - knock yourself out.
I would strongly recommend you take your own advice and block people as necessary. Your comments are bordering on goading, and that too will not be tolerated.
Ok.
It’s funny, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone moaning as much as you are and not blocking people (seeing as you’re still responding).
It’s almost like your self awareness is in the negatives and you can’t wrap that around your head might be a mental disability. Have you been tested?
For fucks sake. The mods are really 24/7 running cover for the posters of bigoted comics.
no, i want the community to do that. i don’t understand why you’re always so aggressive in these threads. lemmy is not the place for that sort of behaviour.
In this case I suggest you need to block and move on with your life. Good bye.
but… i don’t have a personal problem with it? why aren’t you answering my question? you’re giving canned responses now, like i’m some sort of militant hater, rather than actually give a reason for what you’re doing
The answer to your question seems to be that he’s a contrarian. Feel free to correct me, but that’s what it looks like from where I’m standing.

Every time you comment, you seem dumber and dumber… 👀
Rule 1.
This conversation is getting out of hand.
Perhaps you could tell me why my other removed comment was ableist at least? I know calling someone a dumb dumb is meanie poo but that part doesn’t make any goddamn sense.

I wasnt the one who removed that comment.
