I was going to say, this one has so many but’s its easy. Multiple people on one scooter, reckless driving, driving at locations where they shouldn’t etc etc.

Of course it’s always a few people messing it up for everone. Still, after the whole rent cycle catastrophe (and yes it is, there are Chinese landfills full of them) now this is version 2.

there are Chinese landfills full of them

I think the surviving companies just bought up the failed ones and stripped them for parts. Chinese towns and cities are still full of rental scooters, but they’re down from like 12 companies with equal distribution to like 60% Meituan, 20% Hello Bike, 10% that turcoise one, and then a few small ones that are only in a few cities.

On any case, they’re hugely sucessful, with cities building dedicated, seperated lanes, sometimes 2 carlanes wide, that get packed with hundreds of riders per minute during rush hour, and dedicated parking on nearly every sidewalk. I cannot imagine the amount of gridlock and parking lots if those people used cars instead.

      Multiple people on one scooter

I saw this hundreds to thousands of times a day and have done it myself. There’s nothing dangerous about putting 2+ people on a scooter.
