Why would we care what he thinks about phone cases?
The fact that he considers sideloading to be “drama” really tells us why we shouldn’t care about anything he says.
The phone case bullshit is just a diversion to dilute public attention pn the other matter
You’ve read the headline but not the article, clearly, and you lack the critical thinking skills and life experience to surmise that he at no point called it “drama” and that’s just what the website says.
You’ve just read a headline and posted an agitated, antagonistic comment about the situation without any basis on facts… You’re the drama that the headline is referring to.
I do not mean to support Google or any of their ideas, but their excuse of “protecting users from malware” really makes sense. That’s when it becomes bad.
You can’t imagine how foolish a person can be. Some people have become victims of malware and scams, both familiar and unusual scam techniques (like “online kidnapping”). Scammers in regions like Southeast Asia can generate billions of USD annually (cyber scamming in Southeast Asia generates more than $43.8 billion annually[1]) Mainstream media talks about scamming all the time, but it’s not enough to stop people with little knowledge from being scammed.
We must find a better way to stop scammers and protect people. This is the most effective way to dismantle Google’s excuse.
See, that argument would be fine if not for the fact as the vast majority of android malware comes from the google play store. The percentage of android users that actually install apps from alternative sources is so much smaller than those of the play store, and the existence of F-Droid and other community run app stores invalidates your argument. This is not about protecting users from malware, its about not allowing you to install what programs you want ON THE DEVICE YOU PAY FOR. https://www.bitdefender.com/en-gb/blog/labs/malicious-google-play-apps-bypassed-android-security
Of course, we know the Google Play Store also contains a lot of malware or spyware, but will people understand? They will just say “It’s just a mistake, most apps on there are sill safe”.
Mainstream media has a big role on scaring people (I used to be a victim too).
“We will have a flow that allows more sophisticated users to install software that has not been verified,” Samat said, confirming that this process is still being finalized.”
Cool ambiguity until it’s too late
Samat suggested the next phase will go deeper by “re-architecting” Android itself so AI can handle tasks more intuitively and naturally.
Please stop. Get help.
“I think Android 17 is moving from an operating system to an intelligent system”
Is he learning nothing from Microslop’s bullshit? Who exactly is asking for this shit?
I was thinking I may get a new phone this fall as I’m still on a pixel 6, but maybe I’ll wait it out a few more years for this AI shit to get better or die off.
The only thing these dirt bags listen to are investors.
