Why waste time with theory? Find a good politician you feel you can support and go work for them.
Two groups in the US doing good work. If you’re in another country you can hopefully find similar.

Numerous scientific studies have proven meditation to have health benefits.

Doing charity work, with no thought of a reward here or hereafter, is pretty much the definition of ‘spirituality.’
“Spirituality” is feeling a connection to something beyond yourself. It doesn’t have to be God, or magic.
As an experiment
Most people agree that the movie was much better than the book

I got lucky and got good career guidance that lead me to a job I enjoyed. It wasn’t a burning passion, just a gig that let me help people and paid a reasonable salary.
If you can wake up on a rainy Monday morning and not hate getting out of bed, you’ve solved most of your problems.

It’s not particularly wise, but it’s definitely my all time favorite.
“You knew the job was dangerous when you took it.”
Almost always applicable.
Funny thing.
When you said ‘the third one’ I thought you were referring to Fredo.
But I see that you meant the third movie. Even re-editied, I don’t want to see it.
The book does a good job of showing how Vito built his organization bit by bit. He quietly amassed power without doing a lot of killing. He was feared, and that was enough.
One of the few funny ‘Cathy’ cartoons ever.
Cathy and Irving are talking and Irving asks Cathy what she wants in a man. He has to be a self-made millionaire; who is not materialistic. He has to love pets; he can’t own any. He can’t be afraid of commitment; he can’t have any exes.
Irving goes off. He points out that what she wants is impossible.
Cathy asks Irving what he wants.
“A beautiful virgin who loves sex.”

Training=/= skill
I washed dishes. You can do a bad job or a good job.
Same with all the others.
Similar.
Charlie Sheen said that he didn’t pay women for sex. He paid them to have sex and then leave.

I call bull.
It takes skill to do anything. Mopping a floor, washing a window, making a bed, or bagging groceries.

People who work with their hands are almost always considered ‘lower class.’
A paralegal who earns $50,000 a year is considered to be most prestigious than a plumber who earns three times as much.
It doesn’t matter that the plumber has a greater range of knowledge than the paralegal, only that they come home with dirty hands.

I had a hardcover book sitting on my shelf. Got it at a yard sale a while back. “The 13 Crimes of Science Fiction,” it was published in 1979 and most of the stories are much older.
The level of racism was pretty amazing. One story referred to a mugger as a ‘black buck’ Another was set centuries in the future and had an anthropologist keeping some ‘primitive’ people in high tech chains and cages.
I like the paper calendars because they feel more like decoration than a nagging reminder.
The problem is that there’s a feedback loop; fewer people want wall calendars, so the companies give fewer choices, so people stop looking for cool calendars, so the companies give fewer choices…
I ended up finding calendars.com and found one I liked. It’s not as much fun, though.
He’s writing about real life, and not everything in real life is neatly ordered.
Yes, he could do a lot of his tasks online, but that would mean giving up the random pleasures he enjoys by going out and interacting with the world.
edit = He could have just said “I would rather do things offline. I still enjoy being outside.”
Instead, he chose to meander.
I used to buy my next year’s calendar at the store. Come November I’d have a reason to check out new book stores and see what was available. Maybe I’d see one that I didn’t like for myself, but I knew it would be a great present for a friend.
These days the books stores mostly stock a small variety from one or two companies. They are pretty generic, and if I want something I really like I have to go online.
How badly can they mess with you?
If they can dock your pay, or give you terrible jobs to do, forget it.
If it’s a matter of belittling you, ignore it.
Also, see if there’s a way to sabotage the manager.
