Once, I was literally 2 minutes late. The doctor was busy talking to a nurse and only asked for me in 5 minutes, at which point he asked me why I’m almost 10 minutes late.

Technology@lemmy.world•From F-Droid to emulators, here's who's hit hardest by Android's new verification rulesEnglish
3·14 days agoWhen I hear ‘mainstream phone’, in my mind I picture an iPhone or a Samsung. So yeah, Linux phones are definitely not achieving that this decade. Though personally I don’t think they necessarily need to, at all.
Point 4 is probably not happening any time soon, if ever, either. Rest is slowly being done and progressing, so I’m not seeing any major problems there.
I don’t think anyone realistically expects a Linux phone to compete with an iPhone in terms of ease of use, quality of life features or UI/UX. As far as I’ve seen, people just want a decent phone with basic functionalities like long battery life, good camera, easy to use and smooth UI, maps and navigation. All while being more private and secure, of course.

2·15 days agoLinux phones have already been around for many years. Right now we’re very close to Linux phones that are usable on a daily basis. Not as close to decent Linux phones, of course, but with the right (not at all unrealistic) resources it could be completely within reach in a year or two.
Also, Flatpaks exist and work pretty much just like Android apps.
It’d be a good start to just conduct proper tests before handing people firearm permits. People who can barely read or who rage when you honk at them should never be allowed to own, let alone carry firearms.

47·16 days agoOf course they’re banning foreign routers. They want all Americans to have only routers with government backdoors. At this point, backdoor-free routers are a threat to ‘national security’.
It’s not that school isn’t bad (in most countries at least). It’s that working is just even worse. School is only nice in comparison. Just like getting beat up is nice when compared to getting murdered.

Of course, a topic like this needs to be introduced very carefully. Though this entire discussion is pointless at the moment, because American education system is worthless and serves no real purpose, so it’d never get done right anyway.

I’m a little puzzled why a lot of creators don’t do this, especially ones who criticize YouTube so much and promote self hosting.
