0·3 days agoLegitimate Reasons for Employer Device Access There are valid reasons why an employer might need to access an employee’s phone, regardless of ownership: Legal Compliance: To comply with legal requests such as subpoenas or investigations. Security Breaches: To investigate potential security breaches or data leaks. Violation of Company Policy: To investigate violations of company policies regarding acceptable use. Employee Termination: Upon termination, to retrieve company data and ensure a smooth transition.
Let’s be generous and say your employer considers your phone a personal device even though they pay for the service.
For an employer to legally track a personal phone’s location, they need explicit consent from the employee and must have narrowly defined policies.

Is there anything stopping them from hiding a tracking policy in your contract? Did you fully read the contract to check? Would allowing them to pay for the service count as consent in court? IANAL, but why would you risk it, when you could just have a work phone you only use for work.

0·3 days agoIf youre in the US and your company is paying your phone bill, they are legally allowed to access your location via cell towers at any given moment. That, in combination with the fact that they can also legally take the phone from you (You have company trade secrets on that device if you install their software), I dont see the point in risking not having a 2nd device.

0·8 days agoAh yes, we’re all just one collective! Of course! No one has any defining traits that would make them vote one way or another. Were all a hivemind without any characteristics and its the young peoples fault for having no faith in the current government system that was completely fucking destroyed by Regan’s policies. It is the fault of the people who were not even born yet and have no wealth, living paycheck to paycheck. It is the fault of the single mother with 3 jobs thay she couldn’t vote. It is the fault of the 2nd generational immigrant that they got deported to a county they’ve never set foot in. It is definitely not the older generations fault for not standing up to this shit while it was being set up, its the people who werent even a semen in their daddy’s ballsacks fault
but actually were all one group and have no differences, so its really no ones fault. this was inevitable and could not have been prevented.

0·8 days agoThe baby boomer generation holds 51.1% of the total populations wealth. They watched Regan rise to power, strip new deal legislation, neuter unions, kill millions with the AIDS crisis, and funnel cocaine into minority neighborhoods. In response to all that, the baby boomers… elected him to a second term. You all have had a literal lifetime to take that wealth and fight for the future generations to have a better life. Instead of doing that, the vocal majority told ALL OF US (Gen X, Gen Y, Millenials, Gen Z and now Gen Alpha) that we are entitled little shits who are lazy, and need to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps.
If you want the old people hate to stop, maybe look at your peers and get them to realize the mess that has been made fell largely on your shoulders to clean up, and you did nothing.
Maybe you’ve spent your whole life protesting and promoting progressive candidates. I dont know you. I only know the statistics and history about the generations. If you have been fighting for progress your whole life, thats great and I’m happy you did that. but understand when people say things like the OP, it isnt directed at those who tried to make a positive change, it’s directed at the majority who sat around and let fascism happen.

And yet here you are, mocking the workers.
yeah. you TOTALLY thought it was sarcasm. You didnt think it was serious at all.
No. Systemic oppression that caused the concept of tipping bad.
The problem is these companies have infinite lawyers and will find ways around. With the way you’ve worded it, PCs and Phones will no longer be marketed as personal devices. They will instead be a licensed device you paid to have the privilege to use, and only to be used for communication, work and internet access. This making it so it won’t fall under “general computation”
What we really should be pushing for is open platforms. Getting our friends and family on open platforms, and asking our governments to fund open platforms. The EU was almost doing good until this ID bullshit where you have to have a Play Certified or iOS device.
