  • It happens depending on where you are.

In the East Coast? Mind your business.

    In the West Coast:

Someone made conversation with me in the toilet. “Good water flow, yeah?” He said.

As a dude, most people only give me small talk, just to break the ice and explain nobody is a threat. But I can see as a woman, most small talk is a lead up to something else.

  • This is what’s so fucked up about being an American. Every time there’s a complaint about the system, some “good soul” comes out to explain how you avoid it.

Healthcare is expensive? Oh you have to negotiate with your doctors, your hospital, your insurance, and get it fixed.

Internet is too expensive? Oh you’re supposed to call them every few months to have them lower the prices by threatening to quit.

Oh, fast food is too expensive? Oh use the mobile app and take a picture of your butthole to get it back to normal!

  • In emails sent to Patokallio after the DDoS began, “Nora” from Archive.today threatened to create a public association between Patokallio’s name and AI porn and to create a gay dating app with Patokallio’s name. These threats were discussed by Wikipedia editors in their deliberations over whether to blacklist Archive.today, and then editors noticed that Patokallio’s name had been inserted into some Archive.today captures of webpages.

“Honestly, I’m kind of in shock,” one editor wrote. “Just to make sure I’m understanding the implications of this: we have good reason to believe that the archive.today operator has tampered with the content of their archives, in a manner that suggests they were trying to further their position against the person they are in dispute with???”

That and their refusal to talk to any journalist who references information about Patokallio’s blog makes archive.today unreliable.

    Fuck them.

  • Growing up, I didn’t even know how powerful unions were.

My mom worked at a factory and hurt herself when I was a kid. She couldn’t work for months. The union was why I was able to still get food and do hospital visits. She healed up and went right back to work.

With my first kid, my wife’s job decided her pregnancy was interfering with their need for labor so they fired her. They made it ABSOLUTELY CLEAR it wasn’t a pregnancy-related firing over and over again, but that she wasn’t meeting expectations… Because her body hurts from being pregnant. No legal protection either.

  • That’s how it feels.

Work trip was to Vegas a few months ago. It was pretty dead on a Friday afternoon. It was me and my coworkers walking around trying to find something to do. They were charging $8 for water at the bar. And my nachos was $22.

A decade ago, there would at LEAST be two dozen dealers hanging out at empty tables, inviting people. You’d bump into people or try to navigate a crowd. You’d get coupons for food, and courtesy deals for being a member. Not anymore.

It was a casino with a mall, food court and club scene too! My town’s mall had more activity than this. Hell, the McDonald’s on the highway had more activity than this.
