What other people see is their problem. Plenty of people don’t mind or prefer sans-serif. Ensuring your designs look the same on everyone’s machine has been a problem since the dawn of the Internet, and you aren’t going to solve it by replacing 'I’s with a special character. Worse still, if a user’s font don’t doesn’t include that character, they’ll end up with an ugly ‘�’ or something similar.

You need to decide where you lie on the control vs flexibility spectrum, because currently you want it both ways. You either make static images of text formatted exactly how you want (and adding alt text!!), or you let users view the text as they wish.

I find it really strange how you’ve been confronted with locked down text from Samsung, and your first instinct is to try to inflict that same thing on others.

I think it might be easier to use a serif font. Where are you trying to make this change? At the browser level? OS? Or somewhere else? You should be able to make that change, but the specific configuration will vary.

Dedicated single purpose machines. It’s nice to have a device that doesn’t include all of the usual distractions. For example, I have an old iPhone that only has the PBS Kids app and some pre-approved shows downloaded. Everything else has been removed, so I feel a little bit better about hanging it to a child on road trips and the like. Another old laptop has been covered into a Step Mania machine.

The biggest chilling effect I noticed, even as a developer who refuses to use AI, is that I feel like I can no longer ask my co-workers for advice. When I do, I get the the AI equivalent of “let me Google that for you, was that so hard?” So even without using it, I feel cut off from the normal places I would use to learn and improve my coding skills.

If things are working for you without glue, there’s no need to mess with it. Personally, I like having an extra barrier between my model and build plate to make removal easier, plus I’m paranoid about damaging the plate. What was the reasoning for never using glue stick?

When I see first layer issues like this, my go to steps are:

1. Wash the build plate with hot water and soap to remove any built up glue, dry, and reapply a thin layer of glue stick
2. Turn the initial layer speed way down, like 10mm/sec, and 20mm/sec for infill.

I did this one not too long ago! One thing that helped was recognizing that there’s no “roar” delay like when the first one shows up. You can just attacking as they fall down from the ceiling. Second was trying to optimize for damage to take one out asap, and reduce the amount of time you need to dodge both of them simultaneously. For me that looked like Barbed Bracelet, Flintsteel, and Beast Crest. Good luck!
