I use Linux, VPNs, Firefox, etc. These have all given me access problems with anyone who does custom bot prevention implementations, but I’ve never had a problem with a Cloudfare site.

Programming@programming.dev•Radiologists are 10 years ahead of us in not being replaced by AI
135·8 days agoWorth calling out 3 years ago SWEs were also 10-15 years out from being automated.
Things change very fast nowadays.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they depreciated this at the same time, it’s just less known about so wasn’t included in the announcement.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Colibri chat system (Discord-like thing based on ATProto)
0·14 days agoI think the goal here is to get the general population off Discord and moved into a more open platform.
IRC is great but I can’t see the average user using it unfortunately. Every platform has its own goal, but the ultimate community goal is whatever pushes us to an open social space is a net positive imo!

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Colibri chat system (Discord-like thing based on ATProto)
0·14 days agoColibri to my knowledge is basically doing public chats until private spaces are in a better spot then doing private spaces for private groups.
Roomy.space is another one of these who built their own private spaces on atproto and would be worth checking out.
Also Atproto isn’t inherently a bad place for this since it can be a hybrid system of on or off protocol, or using their upcoming permissioned data spaces for private data.
It’s interesting I have the exact opposite perspective with AI in regards to selfhosting.
The customizability is now endless for me, I can do anything, customize anything, problems that are typically 1-2 hours are fixed in <5 minutes.
Don’t want to fiddle w/ a GUI? Shoot off a message and it’s done.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•fediverse.info - A site that introduces the concept of the fediverse, and provides an easy way for people new to it to find the type of experience they want
0·14 days agoYoure probably looking more for something like the atmosphere (bluesky network) where you have one identity for every app.
But as the other guy said definitely in an ideal world everything communicates with everything cleanly.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Pixelfed and Loops ban AI generated contributions
0·19 days agoI still think it’s odd to ban AI outright, it’s incredibly democratizing for smaller platforms and enables them to keep up with without getting bogged down in the drudgery of bug fixes / testing.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Pixelfed and Loops ban AI generated contributions
0·19 days agoIt’s impossible, I’ll never understand why anti ai repos draw such a hard line instead of saying hey we won’t even look at 1000+ LOC PRs or design reworks with no discussion.
Both of those are pretty reasonable policies that will kill most of the fly by AI requests.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Phishing / spam detection with local LLMs?
21·19 days agoOP if you don’t mind running this through a Hermes / OpenClaw harness this is probably the easiest way with pre built email connectors. Also if you don’t mind spending a few bucks a month DeepSeek v4 will blow out anything you run locally for pennies (or gpt luna as of last wed.)
It can also set up its own custom connector if needed and run as needed via CRON.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Most feature complete ActivityPub platform?
0·22 days agoIt sounds like you’re looking for Mbin. But I’m curious, do you want both mastadon and Lemmy combined into a singular feed? Would you be opposed to having your Mastadon feed as a form of “Community” that fits into the normal feed as its own community?

Programming@programming.dev•Is Vibe Coding the Norm Now? [rant/vent/advice welcome]
33·29 days agoWhat is the last fad that the entire industry adopted in 9 months?
If cost per intelligence is going down, and compute capacity is rising I can’t see a world where token pricing will go up.

Programming@programming.dev•Is Vibe Coding the Norm Now? [rant/vent/advice welcome]
97·29 days agoProgramming was never enjoyable to me.
Making things is. LLMs allow you to be extremely pragmatic and enjoy making things or troubleshooting things without tedious line by line nature.

Programming@programming.dev•uhh why are we still doing leetcode interviews in 2026???
5·1 month agoLeetcode seems pretty useless right now. I think a take home, the results, and a conversation will lead to a really solid hiring signal though.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•beeline - an android client for misskey and mastodon (wip)
0·1 month agoThe entire world of software is using AI. It’s so strange to me we’re allowing big corporations like Microsoft, Google, Reddit, etc devs take advantage of it for efficiency gains then turning around and criticizing and scoffing at solo dev projects who want to push the Internet to a better place.
By all means it’s your right to say you don’t want to use anything built with AI, but at this point you’re better just leaving the Internet wholesale.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The AT Protocol Harkens An Old Web Ethos (Or: how the other fediverse is developing)
0·2 months agoI think the lexicon requirement certainly leads to a more polished look as you don’t have to worry about custom interactions across multiple platforms, interoperability is basically baked in (given it’s built to begin with).
It’s quite nice I’ve been working in it quite a lot. A lot of people here tend to get into the “my protocol is better” arguments but honestly both sides have the same ultimate goal, each has its quirks.
Note on the variety, a lot of these like Mu is re-using the bluesky lexicon so it’s effectively like a Mastadon Client. Same goes for Offprint, Leaflet, Pckt they all use the same Standard Site lexicon so they’re effectively clients with some frontend niceties built in and maybe their own features, but the core is the same.
Also my account here is actually atproto 👋

FWIW I’ve had multiple DigitalOcean VMs die seemingly out of nowhere.
Never had a problem with OVH nor Hetzner.
