I think the education on just how much the boomers were given from the previous generation and how little they passed on to the next generation while acting like they worked for anything and were entitled to everything should be repeated as often as possible.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some good but mundane or niche insults?
0·3 days agoThe classic:
- You look easy to draw
Others:
-
You are the type of person who makes the teenage cashier at Chipotle explain why guac costs extra.
-
You’re the human equivalent of a bag of salad that goes bad the day you buy it, worthless after I already spent my cash.
-
Talking to you is like using a public restroom, sometimes necessary, never pleasant and leaves me feeling a little gross after.
-
Every conversation with you has the emotional texture of a Terms and Conditions pop-up.
-
Being around you feels like watching someone try parallel park for four minutes.
and the best I have ever hear with my own ears, which is not mundane, but is excellent when yelling at the top of your lungs so all the neighbors can hear: “You are a supercilious cunt”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the OLDEST surviving meme that YOU still use today, regardless of format, either with or without an image?
0·4 days agoI had no idea that this was the actual origin of the terms but yes, I just looked it up, it was due to the unintended acceleration of the Audi 5000 is why its associated with leaving quickly, because that is what this vehicle did.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the OLDEST surviving meme that YOU still use today, regardless of format, either with or without an image?
0·4 days agoYes, I’m Audi/Outtie evolved from the saying I’m Audi 5000. We are about the same age so that tracks.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the OLDEST surviving meme that YOU still use today, regardless of format, either with or without an image?
0·4 days agono for leaving, like you are leaving a place and you say “I’m Audi 5000” to the people there instead of saying Good Bye.
This is old because the Audi 5000 first gen was introduced in the 1970s. Its surviving because I just said it like 3 days ago. It lives on in me 🥹

6·4 days agoI had cancer 3 years ago. I will be paying off my treatment costs for the next 10 years, like I will be fully in remission for over 5 years from cancer and still paying off my treatment. So maybe that is why.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the OLDEST surviving meme that YOU still use today, regardless of format, either with or without an image?
0·4 days agoVerbal memes count? I still say “I am Audi 5000” or “Peace in the Middle East” when I am leaving. The latter being pretty sad that it is still relevant today from the day I stated using it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the most boring unpopular opinion?
0·4 days agoNot sure where you got that from? You are free to become addicted to anything you want.
My unpopular option is that addiction is not genetic, if you take an addictive substance long enough you will become addicted, no one is exempt from this.

Technology@lemmy.world•GrapheneOS defends use of AI for codingEnglish
10221·4 days agoI am sure I will be down voted on Lemmy for this but using AI for development by a team who is already experienced in development of the product they are working on is not a moral failing.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the most boring unpopular opinion?
0·4 days agoThis is 100% true for heroin. If you pressed through and still did it enough times even if you thought it was meh, you would eventually become addicted, because that is how brain chemistry works. It is not the high people are chasing when they get addicted, its relief from the withdraws.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the most boring unpopular opinion?
0·5 days agoAnyone can become an addict, it is not a genetic trait. If you use any additive substance long enough you will being addicted, there is no if, its just a matter of when.
This includes alcohol and more people are addicted to alcohol then they want to admit.

A pool table.
This one has been my favorite since I was single digits years old.
I used to have this yellow dress that I loved and I am pretty sure I accidentally donated it like 10 or 15 years ago, but every 6 to 10 months or so I still think about that dress.

You can use the word however you like, however the rest world sees this word as a name for a specific generation, born after WWII and before 65-68.
