Let me present to you a recent youtube video from Fox “News” that I ran across in my feed, “Hormuz clash ERUPTS as Trump threatens LETHAL force”. 1 hour old and over 800 comments, with about 80% of comments being from bots created within a day and containing the word “Grokarium” (I’m guessing some type of Elon Crypto scam).
I’ve seen calls before for people to engage others in spaces like these to push back on the narrative they’re presenting and the bubble they exist in. Don’t waste your time in a place like that, instead focus on those around you or smaller online spaces like Lemmy for instance. I find a lot of the discussions I see helpful for how to approach and inform others that may be out of the loop but a place like youtube just isn’t real and a waste of your time to comment.

Are there any online spaces that aren’t filled with bots and clankers?
the fediverse is pretty good 🥰
Lemmy is full of bots and rage bait accounts.
They’re just less interesting and maybe that’s good enough. The way the fediverse is architected makes it especially susceptible to bots.
So anywhere people can make money. Got it, avoiding capitalist hellscapes from now on.
Sir would you be interested in buying a bridge, you see am a Nigerian prince who needs to buy oil urgently and am willing to depart from it for just deactivation of your account
If you figure out how to do that with out dying let me know
Just treat them like hostile zones and minimize exposure
There are bots that show up here every now and then, but not many.
Also seemingly dead places like InsaneJournal are a good place to avoid bots. Ain’t no sane person is paying for an account only to be banned, in the case of IJ.
I also haven’t seen many ( if any ) bots on SpaceHey either, so maybe we’re good there for now, too.
🤞it remains that way.
With the exception of some niche decades-old chatrooms that have a max userbase of like 40 people, probably not.
