I dunno, some of that sounds more solipsistic than a narcissist. He’s trying to shovel admiration (however fake or fawning it usually is) into a bottomless daddy-shaped abyss in what passes for his soul. If he truly didn’t care what people thought he wouldn’t react with reflexive infantile petulance and anger to his critics.

He’s barely had a conscious thought in his entire adult existence, but his subconscious knows his pain. Some people can shrug off criticism but it’s festering deep down in him somewhere that he can’t access. If he hadn’t been born with a million silver spoons up his ass he’d have been long dead already.
