Here, and in most leftist spaces, why does Islam always get a pass?

is it because when people picture “muslim” they picture a POC but when they picture “Christian” they picture a straight white man?

    A) lemmy is not real life

    B) most lemmy users are from the West where conservatives have been blatantly anti-Muslim for ages. From the perspective of Americans and Europeans, left-wing defense of Islam is about defending our neighbors from hate.

    C) lemmy is extremely atheist, you will find criticism of anything here. Block and move on

      a) well this is, after all, asklemmy isnt it?

      b) yeah, I see that a lot, bunch of people from here think “Christians” and “Republicans” mean the same thing (which is absolutely incorrect and factually wrong)

      c) thanks

Look up the “No true Scotsman”-Fallacy, which absolutely hits the nail on the head when conflating Christian Evangelists and Republicans. Just saying they aren’t real christians doesn’t make them less christian.

Because they believe in God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and use the Bible as a basis. That defines pretty much all of Christianity, regardless of how they interpret the scripture.

A Christian that doesnt listen to Christ is like a vegan who eats meat

Does that change the fact that they believe that they listen to Christ? Their pastors tell them that they do! They tell them all about the loving Christ! And then they tell them about who doesn’t deserve the mercy of Christ because they strayed too far from whatever imagined line they draw.

The drawing of this line isn’t something unchristian. Its very much integrated in EVERY abrahamic religion. The only difference is where that line is drawn - which only means that there might be a difference in tolerance between christian denominations, but it is a gradual thing, and not a categorical one.

                You claim to be Christian.

                They claim to be Christian.

You claim they are not Christian.

They claim you are not Christian.

Sounds to me like you both have equal claims to the title. Can you help us understand why YOU are the only one who has the authority to define what a Christian is?
