DETECTIVE: Hey so we’ve run known photos of your suspect through facial recognition on the cameras in the area of interest. No luck.

OFFICER: Witnesses say he was wearing juggalo makeup at the time

DETECTIVE: Hang on *keyboard sounds*. Oh yeah one match. Here ya go.

I guess maybe if we make it a societal norm that we all go out in Juggalo makeup. And change the pattern every time.

Here’s a recent article about trying to use makeup to foil facial recognition. They mention the obvious points–that you make yourself suspicious by wearing such make up, and that there are other ways to ID people, such as gait recognition. I think it’s much easier to just wear a mask, if you’re in a situation that calls for it, that way you can quickly take it off before and after.

Yeah I was gonna say, there’s basically juggalos in 2077, and I’m fairly sure I read that they existed in 2020 too

Edit: should have just clicked your link before responding, they are indeed in 2020

Or you could, y’know, wear one of those handy face coverings that we all already had to go out and buy in bulk 5 years ago…

That was true when the pandemic started but facial recognition models have advanced to account for that. Facial recognition has plenty of different features to key off of, such as ear position, jaw structure, nose shape, eyebrows, forehead, etc…

Face paint is usually an entirely different defense. It basically blocks the algorithm from identifying a face at all so it can’t start on the more detailed steps of picking out specific features.

I highly doubt it, if you want to protect yourself you have to wear a full mask
