I assume that if you’re a woman and a republican, you hate yourself (and other women/girls). You’re probably unbearable to be with.

Judge people by the content of their character. Not by their appearance.

We can criticize Republicans ugly policies without attacking their hair, faces, bodies.

We are justifiably angry at Republicans like this because they are enthusiastically a part of the boot that we are being crushed beneath. However, there is a distinction between wanting to be free of the boot, and wanting to be the boot.

It feels cathartic to be mean to people like this, and let’s be real, this level of unkindness is but a fraction of the cruelty they inflict upon us. However, this path does not lead to justice. I don’t want to be like them — not even a little bit.

What an absurd statement. In no world am I standing by Trump. I’m a queer cripple who literally only has a place to live right now due to the solidarity and support of other oppressed people.

I don’t want to be the boot because the people I love and I have already been bled so much by the ruling class and no amount of revenge will be able to give me the life I could’ve led if not for the oppression I have faced.

The problem with the system is the systematic oppression, not that the wrong people are being oppressed.

Being opposed to misogyny (even when it’s directed at awful people) does not make me a compatriot of theirs. The problem with the system is the oppression, not that the wrong people are being oppressed.

I don’t know what justice would be appropriate for all the harm these women have done, but I know that bigotry such as gendered oppression is antithetical to justice (even when it’s directed at people who have used their privilege on other axes to oppress others).

The post asserts that the women pictured are so unattractive that it has turned their republican husband’s gay.

The implication being that women are to be valued primarily by their physical appearance and a man is to be judged by the appearance of his wife.

Lemmy lets this slide because they are republicans and therefore acceptable targets, but they are bad people not because they are unattractive or they married someone unattractive/low-status, they are bad people because they voted for an administration which has done enormous harm to minorities, LGBTQ folks and anyone who drowned indirectly on USAID.

That’s not even getting into the problems with the conversation therapy-esque idea of being able to intentionally change an adults sexuality

        b) you can literally see it in this thread

        c) wtf I LOVE BEING CALLED SILLY ACTUALLY??

anyways i see it mentioned a lot by lurking in the women’s stuff comm. and tbh i see enough of it myself just in my nornal feed to agree

When you hate women, men are the natural alternative.

You’d think they’d be a lot more supportive of trans women, given this. Although I suppose maybe it’s their way of being affirming.

No they’re not. People have empathy. They care for others. They care for other people.

These are ghouls. They don’t care for anyone but themselves and money. They aren’t people. They’re a waste of oxygen.

Empathy is the most important part of a person. those people either never had it, or chosen to get rid of it. the reason they look like souless gohuls is because in some very significant aspects, they are.

I don’t doubt they hold ghoulish views, but it has nothing to do with their appearance. They look like older women fetishizing a revolting idol while subscribed to white supremacist ideals about youth and beauty. Describing them as “things” is dehumanizing in a similar way as they would likely dehumanize us. The more ideologically revolting members of our species are still people.

fash should be dehumanized though. they aren’t people. they are way beyond the paradox of tolerance. accepting them is unacceptable. I’m and way shape or form. everyone in the picture isn’t deserving the air they breathe.

Dehumanization is a core mechanism of fascism. It’s not possible to eradicate fascism by using its tools. Your statement also stands in stark contrast with your position that empathy is the most important part of a person.

The problem is, we’re all capable of atrocities, even if some are much more easily convinced to participate than others. It’s an uncomfortable truth of being human. But we have the choice to attack the parts which are actually contemptible - their words and actions. Alienating people based on their physical appearance equally alienates the people who perceive themselves to have a physical similarity, even when they hold entirely opposite views. That collateral damage is neither necessary nor desirable.

do I need to being up the paradox of tolerance.

those women literally want me to die in a concentration camp. any empathy wasted on them is a boon to their fascism and materially hurts those they are trying to kill.
