Do you know what a “safe word” is? I’m asking seriously because if you don’t, I’ll start my explanation there, but I don’t want to assume you don’t.

I know PoE and other minor things that make use of the unused pairs but I never really understood why only 2 of the 4 pairs of wires is used as standard practice.

The problem with doing the safeword like that is that it counterintuitively REDUCES entropy (you just use ! for the special character, first character’s uppercase, number at the end), and is so hard to remember it just goes on a Post-It. Get a couple dice and the EFF Large Wordlist. New Requirement: Safeword Must Have >80b Entropy.
I studied chemistry, to as far as I know entropy is measured in Joules per Kelvin… What is 80b entropy?
